Found this very interesting post on the Fox Sports Facebook page this afternoon.

Does this mean they, News Limited, finally admit that their motives were Pay TV rights (which the general population know was the case) and not taking the game to China where Andrew Ettingshausen would become a household name?

The two things are the same. They had to make ET and his mates a name in China to get the Chinese TV rights. Big potential audience in Asia.

Was it all about expanding the game? Yes because there is more money in it.
Was it all about money? Yes because they are a business.

Still can't get an audience around the world 15 years later.

Everybody knew that. ARL was being viewed on Optus Vision and Foxtel wanted in on it, NSWRL wouldn't budge, so Murdoch went after league. He ended up winning. Sure his comp died after a year, but he has the TV rights he wanted.

There were no hidden agendas anywhere, it was virtually impossible for there to be any. SMH would rubbish Superleague and DT would promote Superleague.

Between the two we heard both sides of the story, especially once Packer chimed in.

I understand and did say that the general population knew WHY it happened but has News Ltd ever come out as blatant as this in admitting to it?

I have never seen a written piece or heard an interview in which News state they only did it because they wanted the game on their platform but it was given to Packer and Optus.

The pr*cks, they destroyed my club. Hope, the pommies get Murdoch over the 'News of the World' scandal - it would be justice.

Echoed by every Bears fan.

More - when does the spotlight fall on Arko who gave his butt-buddy Packer the long-term Ch 9 TV rights for next to nothing.

Never will, Arko's lack of vision is what lead to Superleague getting as far as it did here to start with. he should have handed the job to Quayle about 5 years earlier.

It might be 15 years on but some clubs are still being forced to pay for what happened all those years ago. Once we have a true independent body if ever then normality may resume.

Arko and Quayle will need to answer to their maker regarding the actually f*ckups they made pre-superleague war.

- adding additional teams that jumped ship as soon as a dollar was laid
on the table - the judas merkins.

- empowering Moore - the judas bastard

- selling the free to air rights for a dime & pay TV right for a nickel

Heros of the ARL - no

Destroyers of Foundation clubs - yeah

Regards,
