I remember going to the Anzac Day clash in either 04 or 05 and Matt kicked that goal from the sideline to win us the game. He had a stellar game and if he can recapture that form he had back then and be consistent, well the Dragons might go abit further than years gone by;-).
Wayne wouldnt of got him if he hadnt belived Matt could resurrect that form and become a top halfback. I hope he proves all his doubters wrong

I remember that, but I also remember the game he had against the tigers on mothers day a few years ago. He bombed a try over the line with no one near him then subsequently missed a shocking tackle and let a try in the next set, 12 point turnaround game over :x.

Put it this way, I have asked heaps of people that support other teams about Head and they all were glad he isn't in there side. They hope he plays for us against their team, because they think were an easier team to beat when he is in the side.

This is the same brownie that said Gaz would be one of the best 5/8ths in the game.
Regardless of whether he got every call right (we all know he didn't) i was in total agreement with him and often said this when Head just started to go bad.

I'll stick by my comment, hoping he'll come good.

Look, he has a stuffed knee and the more it's operated on the worse it will get. I know i live his problem every single day. He may never live up to what i envisioned for him.

I'll never have people say he was never great and could have become the next big thing..

Hi Guys,

There's only two people that know if Head is going to work out, barring injury of course, that is Head and Benny.

Benny is astute and experienced enough to recognise the qualities and remaining potentential in Mathew and will play him accordingly. If we see him in the starting lineup week after week, then Benny is obviously happy with his abilities and potential. The big question mark, in my view is his injury problems with his knee and his defence may be a little suspect.

Benny obviously knows this and will no doubt work very hard on both.

As for Mathew, he will know in his own mind how he is going to go, again barring injuries. Has he come back to the Saints to finished off a fairly up and down career, only he knows that. Or does he he firmly believe he has heaps to offer the club next year and fit in well with the format of the team?

Why would Benny want him, if he (Benny) couldn't see some potential as either a brilliant individual or team player. Does he want him simply as a backup to Horny, time will tell.

Me personally, I hope for the sake of Mathew, the team and us and all the other Saints supportes that he goes excetionally well.

Bring on 2009.

Yeah, exactly right. It's fair enough to question his injuries and whether he will ever come good etc but there's no doubting he has ability and Bennett has recognised that. He will be a very able backup at least, could be much more depending how the off season goes.

Yes, I remember that match and I was really pissed when he bombed that try. All we can do is just watch and see if Bennett did the right thing by bringing back head. Let's hope he can silence you lol.

I believe he did show some brilliance with the tigers but when u got marshall and farah in the halves, it's pretty tough to get much game time.

I think Head could be great for you guys, If (key word) fit he's a much better player than Soward, and would be the first time you have a decent player in the halves since the departure of Barrett.
