I have just received an email from the daughter of Jack Gibson. (Apart from the media sensationalism) it appears to be good news to say the least.
Great to hear that all is not as bad as first thought.
I am writing to you in regard to your article "Mondays Expert League Wrap" dated 2/10/06.
I am Jack Gibson's daughter and write on behalf of my mother Judy and my siblings.Last week we were disturbed to read an ill informed article regarding my fathers health in a major daily newspaper.
It appears that other publications including yourself have drawn information from this piece which provides an inaccurate picture of my dads health. At no stage has any one contacted any member of my family to confirm his health status so it is surprising and upsetting to us to have read abut his supposed demise.
Please know that Jack is currently in care as he is suffering dementia. He is not in a nursing home and physically he is very well. He is the same man he always was with his sense of humor and one liners, battling with confusion and memory problems. His family are with him daily and we all share the belief that presenting a positive and happy outlook is the best way.
He remains a happy loving member of our family.
Susan Turner (nee Gibson)
