I have just received an email from the daughter of Jack Gibson. (Apart from the media sensationalism) it appears to be good news to say the least.

I am writing to you in regard to your article "Mondays Expert League Wrap" dated 2/10/06.

I am Jack Gibson's daughter and write on behalf of my mother Judy and my siblings.Last week we were disturbed to read an ill informed article regarding my fathers health in a major daily newspaper.

It appears that other publications including yourself have drawn information from this piece which provides an inaccurate picture of my dads health. At no stage has any one contacted any member of my family to confirm his health status so it is surprising and upsetting to us to have read abut his supposed demise.

Please know that Jack is currently in care as he is suffering dementia. He is not in a nursing home and physically he is very well. He is the same man he always was with his sense of humor and one liners, battling with confusion and memory problems. His family are with him daily and we all share the belief that presenting a positive and happy outlook is the best way.

He remains a happy loving member of our family.

Susan Turner (nee Gibson)

Great to hear that all is not as bad as first thought.

My reply back to her email:

Hi Susan.

First let me be the first to apologise for the unsubstantiated reports, both in the mainstream media as well as the website. "parradisecity.com" is only a small part of "leagueunlimited.com", and as a result, we receive all our reports from the larger site, who in turn receive their information from the mainstream media. That being said, I have made them aware of the inaccurate report and hopefully you will see some form of satisfaction sooner rather than later.

On a personal level, I am pleased beyond words that your father is doing well, and if I may be so bold, please know that he is always in the hearts and minds of us, the Parramatta fans, and we wish him and your family nothing but the best.

Warm regards,

Marc

And Susan's reply:

Hi Marc,

Thankyou for your kind thoughts and swift response. It is great to know that dad is so well thought of by yourself and the Parramatta fans. I have shown mum your reply and she also said to pass on her thanks.

Kind Regards,

Susan

Like I and others have already mentioned, it really is great to hear that Jack is doing well.
