He seems determined to go Monday night football as the trade off for a shorter nrl season

Reading between the lines, the NRL may only get $3 billion if they include MNF. It will suck for crowds.

Or to look on the bright side, bringing back MNF may be a better option in the next cycle with one pay subscription provider, rather than no MNF and having to pay multiple streaming platforms.

MNF sucked for crowds, but I must admit I liked it, and from what I remember it was the highest rating slot on fox at the time. If it returns they will need to get creative around where it’s played to ensure it at least looks good on tv.

Maybe the two new teams can help to shoulder the load on Monday nights?

All the office workers in Perth CBD can head straight to the ground for a 6pm kick off and still be home at a reasonable hour for a school night …. And any night is going out night in Port Moresby

That just makes it worse. Now the away teams have extra travel on top of being the last game. NSW teams, storm and raiders would face getting home probably 6am Tuesday at the earliest then potentially having to play again on the Saturday. Warriors would need a bye after. It wouldn't be fair unless all the teams share the burden and I can't see that happening.

There will be planty of teams backing up from short turn arounds Saturday to Thursday and Sunday to Friday in any event .., as they do now..it won’t be a situation unique to Monday nights … although this will obviously increase the numbers of teams having to do so
PVL will definitely need to have that private jet ready to go

Balancing the draw will be a nightmare.

I can't imagine MNF is worth that much more than a 3 game Super Sunday to pay tv or running two prime time Friday night games for FTA.

They don’t seem to worry about the draw much now … there doesn’t seem much fair about it with some teams being disadvantaged and others not … so I doubt anything will change much there when it becomes more of an issue

It's light years from where it was. Hopefully we don't go backwards

So a Perth team is most likely coming in. Is the NRL going to ignore the time difference by bringing back Monday night, instead of Sunday night?

Is there a huge amount of a difference from those two timeslots in terms of value in broadcast revenue?

No ones going to watch sport at 6pm on a Monday night lol
nothing worse than watching a game played in an empty stadium with zero atmosphere. monday nights such a bad idea.

No one is going to go watch it at 8pm on the East Coast either … Only fair way is that every team carries the can for one home game each ..three Mondays off for Origin week and give it a miss the last round of the year probably sees out the season…. the Warriors can kick off their game at 10pm local …what difference does it make ? No one is turning up anyway right ?

Monday night was a 7pm KO. There is no way they’re going for a 8pm kick off. It’s unpopular on Thursday and shoukd be 7:30pm KO
If it’s Perth could be 830 with 2 hours difference

Doubt they will hold any when it’s 3 hr difference

When the concept was first tried in the 90s? Roosters got some massive crowds but that was with freebies

Clubs should be pricing these cheap and the nrl paying clubs the difference
