Okay, Oz union closing in a larger deal with Nine/Stan (God knows how), NZRU looking like having a major reduction in their deal.

"Informed sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told this masthead that negotiations have been progressing well since the start of the year and the potential new deal would see an increase on the current $30 million-a-year contract." 5yr deal.

"But while there is hope from both parties that an extension will be agreed upon, key players say confidential details within the contract are far from ratified, and so caution remains."

"Another key factor in RA’s future financial health is the massive predicted loss of broadcast revenue in New Zealand. Sources say Sky is offering NZ Rugby a multimillion dollar downgrade on their current deal from 2026 onwards.

"The Kiwis’ existing deal is worth around $NZ80 million ($72 million) a year, with inside figures suggesting that the new offer could be as low as $NZ50 million a year.

"Because Australia and New Zealand are in a joint venture, they share profit and loss. So any uplift in RA’s deal could be offset by the loss across the Tasman, should both remain committed to Super Rugby.

"The lingering uncertainty over the broadcast deal, and the future of Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt, has led to players exploring options elsewhere."

Doesn`t augur well for our Sky deal in NZ but may make it easier to attract union players.

Nine`s persistent with Oz union hopefully means they are determined to make Stan work and this will be reflected in their dealings with the NRL.

That's why Nine ( TV FTA) wont offer anywhere near $200 So break it up between Nine and Ten. $110 Nine and $90 Ten. You have 5 main events or BLOCKBUSTERS that HAS TO BE FTA, and it's possible to break it up with one FTA having the Grand final and the last State of origin ( exclusive) , while in the same year the other FTA has the Two opening State of origin.( exclusive) It's a business so give the FTA Two games only (each) But with the proviso that the other FTA can place the corresponding game in the other platforms VOD pay section ie Stan and Paramount plus. What could be done is Friday games (early and late ) on say Ten the early game ( straight after the 5 o'clock news) - which Stan can also show, ( on PAY VOD Stan. Then the late Friday game on Nine, which paramount can show on their pay channel. Sure it one less game on FTA, but the RL supporter can take up Kayo ( for all games) Nine for 2 FTA and 2 on Stan- While Ten has two FTA games on Friday early and early Sunday to lead into thier5pm news and 2 other games ie Fri late game and Nine Sunday game on paramount.

So if you sign up for paramount you can watch 4 games including tens commentary team , and if you sign up for Stan you get access to 4 games also. (ie own commentary team)
Someone will say no exclusively, but that's does happen for FTA on their respective games, FTA exclusive ie free.
To complete the deal Fox shows simulcast all games but obviously no grand final and all state of origin.
and let them decide they choose the Thursday night football can be Monday or any other day they choose. So tis means and i am aware that less FTA occurs- and slight competition in the PAT TV, however with the extra exclusive day ( the one they show on Thursday, (which can be moved anywhere fox wants- might be able to bring the current $400 deal into new negotiations with a earlier start time instead staring in 2028. We have to ooer something to everyone- and this might be it. And if the greater $ come up AND with a earlier start time ( say start on 2026) make it a 10 year deal, then will be to say we have the biggest media deal in Australian history. Quick cals $220m both FTA and FOX $290m for a $510 pa deal- only available if starts on 2026, so we get $110m for each year earlier , which is two years early so we also gain $220 by signing a deal early with a early start date.

Everybody gets something with Ten getting something that they didn't have at all Nine would or could a a hold out but it plays to their strategy of more RL content on Stan, so realistically a 2 year discount just to them of say 10m$ might apply to get them on board. Fox will think we simulcast with them (FTA) anyway however it is reduction in FTA. And we can choose a totally exclusive day to show Thur/Monday night game and still have super Saturday, which is a ratings winner for Fox, so the can get on board. If you want 4 games a week sign up to Stan or Paramount if you want all sign up Fox kayto. Sorry their are 4 FTA games so it more for the regular Punter. On TEn FTA Friday early early game then change to Nine FTA late game, on Sunday Watch early game on FTA ten, while also watch Nine FTA Sunday afternoon game ie 4pm.
