So an NRLW game played at midday Sat that rates 200k.

Whilist being played on Kayo is going to make money for the Network?
WTF does nrlw have to do with the nrl & origin? Nrlw is in its infancy & will never have the following of the nrl. In fact the only reason it is popular at all is because of the NRL competition, which again demonstrates how ridiculous the assertion is that the nrl competition has no value on fta without origin.

Every afl game is live on fox nationally. In the new fta deal qld & nsw afl club Saturday games are now broadcast on delay on 7.

Yep and they are paying 20% extra in the new deal, which over 7 years is little more than a rise with inflation.

They also have way way more ads which is why the deal is more to begin but the % they are paying dropped with the changes.

I am not against SOO being sold but this is how it needs to play out to get the best result

NRL needs to handle production, That way commentators can be across different Networks

Rep and Finals series - Has to be a FTA network. Womens in this only on whichever network gets it.

Thurs night - FTA only
Friday - Pay TV and FTA can bid. 1 network gets every game on that day. NRLW included
Sat and Sunday as above
Monday - FTA only

That makes it profitable for say ch10 to get into the sport and ensure it is profitable

So the commentators and camera crew etc for the NRLW work for free do they?

I’m done with you, you can’t even follow your own arguments from one post to the next.

You are done because you are losing.

Anyone with half a brain can see it

FTA includes NRLW.

If NRLW is losing money for the Network.

Friday night has a game on before on Fox, if this is a good game on Fox, Then that rates higher and people aren't going to change it to FTA.

So that is probably a break even timeslot across the season

Sunday would fall into the above Category

Thurs night seems solid enough for FTA - that would be the 1 timeslot that does well for FTA

That is the situation without Origin as it stands now.

Hopefully I have dumbed it down enough for you

No one else can hear the voices in your head. Go argue with them.

The one to peruse would be thus

1. FTA Nine 2 games Fri 8pm Sun 4pm
PAY TV 2 games (only) Stan shows Fri 6pm and Sun 2pm
Grand Final and SOS 3
Package 1 cost $130 per year

2. FTA Ten 2 games 6pm fri (just after slight shorten news)and Sun 2Pm for lead up to news.
Pay Tv 2 games (only) Paramount Plus show Fri 8pm game and Sunday 4pm game.
SOS games 1 and 2.
Package cost $115 per year.

3. Fox/KAyo Paytv show all 8/9 games.
Allowed to have a Monday night game. This allows 2 days where they on have content, up from one day (Sat)
Currently pay around $255m per year increase up to $300m per year.

Special arrangement for PAY TV game Thursday.
Only say Amazon/Netflix/Disney or any outside streamer can have joint showing of TNF with Fox/Kayo.
This outside streamer can can TNF AND a FTA game from package 1 AND 2. to show the payed content.
This could be marked as 3 games (PAY streamed on either Disney, Amazon,or Netflix for say $55 m per year.
So total Australian media equals $600m per year neat, or with out Special arrangements $545m per year.

Attacked this way where you the NRL create the packages and sell. Of course it will be the accounts that have a big say BUT i feel the packages stand up to scrutiny. The special arrangement may be, but for $55 m per year with the NRL providing the 'coverage' it will be a ratings winner for them.

Again create these packages and take them to the media and gauge their intent to buy.

The big thing is NRL need to produce the content, It makes it more viable for FTA

And the current afl deal is what 430 to 450 million cash ex Telstra

So for a seven year deal, with Tasmania and an extra round of afl, the increase in their tv deal is poor

Thank you

Took you a few years to work out what I was saying back then but it’s progress
28% increase. Yeh ‘only’ achieving An extra $120mill cash a year is such a poor deal lol.

Meanwhile Vlandys acheived about $25mill cash a year increase (at a cost of around $19mill a year to bring dolphins in) from last year lol.

28 percent over seven years is 4 percent a year

And they had to add magic round and Tasmania plus give Foxsports exclusive super sat just to get an increase that matches inflation

Underwhelming

Yeh, when you consider our last deal increase was 11% over 5 years it’s terrible lol.

No one cares except Wb lol. Of course they had to offer more to get massive rights increase. Doh.
And the nrl can take it away just as easily. Channel seven now have Saturday nights free for most the year and are keen on origin rights, they will only get the latter with a commitment to competition games as well. Without newscorp’s majority ownership of fox the entitlement that held the rights to fox has gone, evident by newscorp papers talking up V’landys streaming threat. DAZN will have to pay for the privilege to keep super Saturday instead of just believing they are entitled to it.
