Or NRLW gets some clear air to kick off their season during stand alone Origin meaning the NRL still fills the content slots

I think the whinging is a little overblown , and the media will soon pivot to “the giving the other codes a free kick for a month “ narrative should they change it , but yeah I’m at the stage where they should try it…they could start the NRLW a bit earlier and let them get some games under their belt before Origin which seems a better outcome for them

samoa v Tonga mightn’t be a great spectacle with most of the bro’s likely preferring to play Origin for the money …if they start dumping Origin then the NRL will quickly change that …

Is England gunna disrupt their season every year to come out and play NZ ? Seems we are transferring our problem to them..

Is everyone here a rabid drug user?

You know we used to have stand alone Origins, but the media, LU and fans complained so much they changed it back.

And Buzz Rothfield opinion on what broadcasters want is like an arsehole, especially given News don't control Fox anymore.

and now everyone is complaining that it disrupts the season to much, so go back to stand alone games … the grass is always greener.. even though there are pros and cons for both scenarios ..

it’s similar to the arguments about playing home games Week 1 of the finals out of the big stadiums …Ive seen Buzz argue both sides of the street on this one …it’s great if it’s Penrith V Parramatta… not so good when 10k show up at Allianz to watch Manly v Cowboys

When NRLW becomes established, it could begin the season when men's Origin kicks off, hence have three weeks off of NRL.

But in the next tv deal, with two extra teams coming in, reduce the amount of games per club from 24 down to 23. Then an origin/NRL schedule could be something like:

Women's Origin I- Thursday night
Round 13- Fri night, Sat night, Sun arvo (3 games)
Origin I Wednesday night

Women's Origin II- Thursday night
Round 14- Fri night, Sat night, Sun arvo (3 games)
Origin II Wednesday night

Women's Origin III- Thursday night
Round 15- Fri night, Sat night, Sun arvo (3 games)
Origin III Wednesday night

*100% Footy special Origin recap edition. Thursday night.*
Round 16- Fri night, Sat arvo/night, Sun arvo/night, Mon night (9 games)

In that schedule, each team only plays one game without Origin players with two byes. There's a ten day lead in to Origin I, then seven days apart to Origins II and III. Origin is all over in 24 days. And it only impacts two games per club. One without Origin players, the other with players backing up.

I think this is the best solution I’ve seen.

You could also have the u19 SOO series in that schedule. This way there is still NRL content in prime time every week but will have less games without star players. We can’t stop the comp for a month to play SOO it won’t work. And we can’t have internationals either. Tonga and Samoa will be missing all thier best players and there isn’t the demand/interest for a NZ v Eng series every year.

Any suggestions of moving SOO to a Sunday are off the mark. That was tried a few years ago and the ratings were a disaster.
