Mogg
Monaghan
Robbertson
Croker (keep him there all game)
McLinden
O'Hara
Woolford
Davico

Hindmarsh
Martin

Smith
Hodgson
Tongue
Evans

This is hard to do because I'm leaving out
Rutgo
Drew
Bulgarelli
Weyman
plus a host of reggies yet to play firsts.

What I think is really needed is to keep 1-7 and hooker on for preety much the entire match - this is why Evans is the only back on the bench. Within these 8 players we need to have somebody capable to fill in at halves in case one of them gets injured during the game. In the forwards, Martin should start because he can play a whole 80 minutes whereas I think Tyran Smith does more from the bench.

Anyways, your thoughts?

this'll be a tough one for Elliott. I'd probably go:
1. Schif
2. J Monaghan
3. Boogers
4. Mogg
5. Graham/Robbo - can't decide yet, will see what kinda off season Graham has.
6. Toots
7. Macca
8. O Hara
9. Woolford
10. Davico
11. Wiki
12. Martin
13. Hindmarsh

I'll get back with the bench, hard to say at this point.

If Michael Monas was here next year he would have been a 1st grade regullar. I think Campese should come into five-eigth with Toots at lock and Martin on the bench.

Mine:

1. Clinton Schifcoske
2. Phil Graham
3. Adam Mogg
4. Joel Monaghan
5. Matthew Gaffa
6. Terry Campese
7. Mark McLinden
8. Ryan O'Hara
9. Simon Woolford
10. Luke Davico
11. Ruben Wiki
12. Ian Hindmarsh
13. Jason Croker

14. Michael Weyman
15. Ben Cross
16. Brad Drew
17. Michael Hodgson

Choosing the forwards was very easy. The hardest part for me was choosing the outside backs. Despite me being a dickhead over Boogas after that mistake, I do like him and he could force his way into my top 17. Robertson as well. Evans could get in the centres too, putting Monas out onto the wing. Marshall Chalk might make a go of it on the wing next year too. But Graham has to be there for mine. Im a huge Graham fan. And Terry Campese should be thrown in the deep end from round one as far as I'm concerned. I don't like having Croker at 5/8th, it's a bit too conservative for me. Weyman picks himself on the bench really, he's a superstar in the making. And I'm a huge Ben Cross fan and would love to see him play in every game, maybe even start for O'hara during his asthma months. I've gone for Hodgo on the bench instead of Tezza Martin. And Skippy to come on the last 15 minutes of the first half and add some spark.

This really will be a difficult decision for the coaching staff next year.

The forwards is fairly easy but the halves and the wing 3/4 line is tough.

The bench is also a toughie.

Anyway, here's my prediction:

1-C.Schifcofske
2-M.Gafa
3-P.Graham
4-A.Mogg
5-J.Monaghan
6-T.Campese
7-M.McLinden
8-R.O'Hara
9-S.Woolford(c)
10-L.Davico
11-I.Hindmarsh
12-R.Wiki
13-J.Croker

14-B.Drew
15-M.Weyman
16-B.Cross
17-A.Tongue

I think Croker, whilst he killed it this year, is better at lock than 5/8. His defence was what we missed in my opinion and hne can contribute that from lock.

What our real problem was was that no one had a good all round kicking game. Schif and Drew had good long kicking and Marty had a superb short kicking game and Simon had a bit of both whilst doing neither well. The answer to that is Terry Campese in my opinion. He has a good long and short kicking game and he kicks 40/20s at regular intervals (did we kick any this year? I can't remember).

The wing 3/4 line lacked attacking prowess this year. With the exception of J.Monas the usual players (Lolesi, Mogg, Bulgarelli) were all good support players but nothing special in attack. James Evans offers alot at both attack and defence but he's a specialist centre and I think Phil with pure speed and attack and Moggy who's defence and support play is excellent are better options. Gafa and Monaghan on the wings are absolute no brainers. They've both had stellar seasons (in their respective grades) and will give us the extra edge we were lacking.

The bench is tough. Drew is obvious for utility value. Weyman (who can also play in the 2nd row) and Cross as the front row replacements, and I would have Tongue instead of Tyran or Hodgson for his defensive value (he plays well above his weight and tackles like a machine).

The goal kicker is another tough call. Ever since his first season at the club Schif has never looked the same. He kicked in the high 80's percentiles that year, and ever since has been struggling for a mid 70% rating. Gafa, on the other hand, is an absolute superboot from what I've seen and, as much as it pains me to say it, should take the goal kicking off Schif.

i must i cant find much fault with that team, the only change i would consider is toots to 5/8th and Martin to Lock, Maybe when injures hit in the halves, or bad form bring in Campeese for some experience

Smith/Rothery

Anyone who watched the reggies GF knows Gaffa has a heap of talent. I'll pick him on one wing. With a big off season Graham can come back and give our attack that much needed X factor. Croker will strengthen the defence but I'd love to see Campese get some first grade experience at 5/8th. Cross and Weyman are going to be huge for us next year. Drew will interchange with woolford and hopefully provide some spark. Tyran Smith IMO has been a waste of money. I'd like to see Rothery challenging him for a first grade spot.

I think our biggest strength next year is going to be our depth. Roberston, Evans and Bulgarelli aren't even in my side. In the forwards Davico, O'hara, Cross, Weyman, Thompson and Bryant will make sure our front row is always strong. The only question mark is depth in the halves when it comes to creativity. And please don't mention Drew as a possible replacement ](*,)

Not solid enough in my opinion. His defence is mediocre at best and his attacking options are frustrating at times. I would much rather prefer Monaghan but that debate has been beaten to death so i'll just leave it at that.

Drew is plenty solid in attack, Woolfords options are often not what they should be, Drew's uttility value is unquestionable, he is a much better hooker but should one of our halves go down in action he is a handy replacment for them, on his day he is one of the most potent attacking weapons in the team

His defence is obviuosly the worry, but i think we should put him infront of the play the ball, he should follow the ball and position himself smack ban infront of it, thus he would be surounded by forwards like Davico, Toots and Hindy

My 17 would be:
Schif, Monas, Mogg, Boogas, Graham, Campo, Macca, Statue, Germ, Rhino, Muss, Hindy, Toots
Bench: Drew, Weyman, Cross, Hodgo

The rest of the 25 would be: Evans, Robbo, Gafa, Martin, Thompson, Tongue, Rotherty, Smith

I have chucked Campo in the deep end because we need his kicking game.
Our forwards are awesome as usual and the best in the comp. I think we have a problem with the outside backs though, Mogg and Monas are more then up to it but the other guys have alot to prove next year.

I am hoping for huge years from Hodgo and Mogg. If they stay fit I think they are both rep quality players.

i'm not sure bulgarelli would cut it as a 1st grade winger, hes 28 and speed isnt one of his assets. better swapping him and graham round or bringing a winger in from reserves

After looking at your guys side I agree that Robo could be better than bugga next year on teh wing only his deffence worries me a bit, I really hope Robo kicks on cos he is so young, but I think bugga and robbo should fight out the wing spot all year much like graham and bugga fought out the centre spot last year. That way we will have the strongest player at the time on the feild...hopfully by years end one of them stands up and grabs that spot, hopfully robbo cos of his age.
