In my opinion, i think he will have to prove himself as a player.. The positions he can play we have well covered, and at the moment Hilder is doing a good job with the kicking.. Just have to wait and see though..

The kicking question seems to have been answered, he'll have to fight Hilder for it

still at 75% & did well in those conditions last week.
If he finishes the year @ 75 or higher, u can probably say we have a potential 80-85 homegrown kicker in hand.
The best kind!

If i had to pick a team for next year now it would be:

Peach
Simmo
Vagana
McGoldy
Merrit
Dykes
Noddy
Stevo
Hilder
Nuts
Bailey
Gallen
Bird

Lomu
Miava
Dumas
Sully

I havent had a decent look at Mellars yet but from what i have been told he goes good so i wouldnt have him over McGoldy in the team just yet but it seems he could push he way in and partner Vagana in the centers.
Wouldnt surprise me to see equal time given to Pelo, Simmo and Merrit next year on the wings depending on injuries to them and Peachy. I would like to see how Pelo handles first grade.
Kent is very unlucky. He is of first grade standard but with our strongest team he is struggling to make the side. As someone has said to me he is a jack of all trades but a master of none and this has prob cost him a starting position and maybe why the club has held off signing him.
I still like the look of Hilder at 9 with sully coming off the bench
I have gone for two back rowers on the bench in dumas and lomu plus miava to keep the ball rolloing when stevo or nuts isnt there in the J Will style.
We have all positions covered very well IMO and Raper is not gonna have an easy job selecting a side from week to week.

Kent is our Flannery.

If guys like Lomu, Merrit, Reick, Aitken & even Simmo are in the team ahead of him, then our club needs a f**king big shake up!

I like Dykesy. A lot.
But I will dissappointed if Clarke gets the punt because we signed Dykesy.

I dont know i am just trying to come up with a reason why Kent has not been resigned. If he is willing to play the flannery type role but on a limited basis (which IMO is what could happen) then the club would be crazy not to resign him.
If they cant garauntee him a decent go in firsts they may have to be fair to him and let him go try cement a spot in firsts somewhere else since he is a player of first grade quality.
I would like to see him stay and hope he does but with the way he has been used this year Reef i can only see him getting limited game time in firsts next which will only come about by injuries. :?

My Team:
1. Peachey
2. Simmons
3. Mellars
4. Vagana
5. Reick
6. Dykes

8. Stevo
9. Hilder
10. Nutley
11. McGolderick*
12. Gallen

*Goldy is as an experiement, he has played well this year in my opinion. He runs hard, has tackled quite well this year (i think) and thats what we need in a second-rower... but if not bailey into second row and isemonger into the 14. Goldy to 18.

I thought he'd signed up as Captain-Coach with Parkes. Wasn't someone saying that a few weeks ago?

What's doing with that?

congratulations senor coconut you win the prize for the crappest team, paul kent replacing matt hilder. sorry mate, there's only one reporter allowed per team and we've already got 'clarke' kent

yo ++ sorry i don't get your point re: mellars covering three positions ?? i only picked him in one spot, namely centre, #4 i believe. the team i proposed is there to read and there's definitely 16 other guys. but if he does possess some mystery superpowers it could be a good way to stay below the cap and also make the most of our 12 interchanges

while i agree with you that simmons may be positionally strong i don't believe he has yet attained the self-confidence, aggression and physical strength to be considered a strong, reliable defender. imo he's still in the (advanced)developing stages as a player and i look forward to seeing him realise his potential.

ok i went a bit harsh on merritt, rieck and simmons... but so has just about every other team in the nrl.

bring back brent grose
