Guys, don't misread predictions of further unrest in Iraq as 'pro-Saddam'. There WILL be ongoing domestic security issues for quite some time.

I'm doing some Post-Grad work in Global Politics, it's fascinating, if not sometimes bloody scary.

Remember, this 'War On Terror' started because of the actions of Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban forces 'illegal' occupation of Afghanistan - An occupation originally supported by the USA in the early-mid 1980s. It was, after all, a pre-cursor regime to the Taliban that liberated the Afghans from the control of Russia.

So, 'Enemy Number One' to the USA is still out there, being Osama, if we are to believe the Post-911 / Pre-War On Terror rhetoric that came out of Washington in late 2001 and early 2002.

It is a GREAT thing for the world that Saddam has been captured, but especially for Iraq. Plenty of countries that did NOT support the War are now applauding his capture, which is typical of the 'all talk, no action' power brokers in the UN.

But let's get something straight - The job ain't done yet, and there will be alot more blood spilled before it is.

It has been written that the American support for the mujahadeen fighters in Afghanistan is revisionist bullshit...doesnt stop a few left wing uni professors (ie. all of them) from telling their tales as fact.

BTW I dont know how the Soviets fighting the mujahadeen is a legitimate answer to the question of why the Taliban sheltered al qaeda who waged war against the west.

Funny, my Global Politics professor, who has several doctorates in this field, didn't seem to think so when she gave me a HD for an essay. Given that September 11 happened right in the middle of that particular semester, the opportunity to be studying this subject when the WTC attack occured was unique, to say the least. She even made us all watch 'Rambo III' so we could all ingest some of that good old USA perspective.

I love the closing line from that stunning piece of classic Hollywood 'doco-drama'. Before the credits roll, the inspirational lline comes up:

'This film is dedicated to the brave (or inspirational, or courageous, or something) people of Afghanistan'

Maybe my professor was just a left wing radical though. Who knows? Maybe I am too!

Still, I'm happy to enter any debate on the issue, as long as people respect any rational views offered. What's the address Millers?

repercussions?

there were car bombs in iraq before the capture of saddam

a small minority will still want the americans out
this doesnt mean the vast majority want a return of the evil dictator, torturer and mass murderer

I'd say a majority of Iraqis don't like Americans and would like to see them out. America didn't win many friends after the Kuwait war, when they urged Iraqis to rise up against Saddam, and then where not supported. Most Iraqis hated Saddam, and are glad to see him gone, but they want to rule their own country without the good old USA breathing down their necks.

The lefties cant decide whether
1. The US had a mandate during the Gulf War to displace Saddam and by not doing so they let the Iraqis down
or
2. The US had no mandate to get Saddam and by doing so this time around they prosecuted an illegal war, therefore letting the Iraqis down.

There's no secret the left want to see the coalition fail in their attempts to transform Iraq into a peaceful and democratic, stable and prosperous nation. That's because they cant fathom admitting they were wrong, something they should have done once Baghdad fell.

Millers.

If a fan on here suggested that after a change of coach, we should perhaps take a moment among the cheering to consider the repurcussions. Would that automatically make that fan PRO the coach that was sacked ?

No.

So please do not be so misguided as to suggest that I am Pro Hussein simply because on the day of the announcement of his capture, I suggested that sadly, perhaps we should be mindful of the guaranteed violence that unfortunately was always going to follow such an event.

By the way, I found your personal homepage and I think it's super !
