I love old jazz music. Anything jazzy gets my feet tapping faster than any piece of classic rock or modern pop.

Anyone know that MBF ad with 'Don't Mess with Mr. In Between' song on it? There's a charity album packed with excellent jazz pieces. Worth a look.

No that one came out in 99, yeah I loved the pushing the elephant song I remember because me and the pommys at work used to sing it, this was their next big song, it had a strange video clip of a party around a pool, where everyone was miming bits of the song with Stipes voice over.
Quite a nice sounding song actually.

Imitation of Life?

Is that it Termie? I've got a feeling that's it's name.

To work out which song you mean, visit: www.remhq.com -- provided you have a fast enough connection.

Besides REM songs, I'm also a fan of just about anything by the Beach Boys.

I thought Kim Carnes did a song called Betty Davis eyes which still rocks.

She did. Bonnie and Kim both sang it. The same music and same lyrics. I prefer Kim Carnes version.

I dunno if i replied to this topic, oh well!

_THIS_ is my sort've topic! :D. This will post will probably end up looking a lot like your parents' music collection, but meh, all the really great music was in the 60's and 70's :).

Eric Clapton and subsiduary bands -

John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers - Hideaway

Cream - Crossroads, White Room, Sunshine Of Your Love, Steppin' Out (best guitar instrumental you'll ever here)

Derek And The Dominoes (the two best guitarists of the 60's - Allman and Clapton - in the same band, what a dream match up) - Layla, Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?

Solo - Cocaine and Tears In Heaven.

Also,

The Eagles (Hotel California, Life In The Fast Lane), Stevie Ray Vaughan (Lenny, Little Wing), Lynyrd Skynyrd (Freebird, Sweet Home Alabama), Allman Brothers Band (One Way Out, Whippin' Post and Jessica) , Jimi Hendrix Experience (Voodoo Chile, Hey Joe), Led Zeppelin (Stairway :), Bron Yr Aur), Jeff Beck (Beck's Bolero, Train Kept A Rollin'), The Beatles (While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Clapton ;), Gettin' Better and Hey Jude), Van Morrison (Bright Side Of The Road, Please Don't Go), The Doors (Riders On The Storm, Love Her Madly and L.A. Woman), The Rolling Stones (Wild Horses, Jumpin' Jack Flash), Pink Floyd (Interstellar Overdrive, Wish You Were Here and Shine On You Crazy Diamond), Bob Dylan (The Times They Are A Changin', With God On Our Side and Subterrean Homesick Blues), Robert Johnson (Me And The Devil Blues, Sweet Home Chicago), Dire Straits (Sultans obviously :p), The Kinks (You Really Got Me), The Who (My Generation, Sparks), Creedence Clearwater Revival (Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son and The Midnight Special), Paul Kelly (Leaps and Bounds, Bradman and To Her Door), Crowded House (Don't Dream It's Over, Instinct and Into Temptation), Split Enz (History Repeats, I Got You and I See Red), Acca Dacca (You Shook Me All Night Long, Dirty Deeds and Long Way To The Top), Cat Stevens (Sad Lisa, Peace Train and Moonshadow), Cold Chisel (Khe Sahn, Flame Trees and Forever Now), Billy Joel (We Didn't Start The Fire, Piano Man), Daddy Cool (Eagle Rock, Daddy Cool), Bob Marley (Jammin', Redemption Song and Buffalo Soldier), Midnight Oil (Short Memory, Power And The Passion and Beds Are Burning), U2 (One, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and Sunday Bloody Sunday).

Some more

Black velvet, Alanah Miles

Young Boys are My Weakness, Kate Ceberano - no I'm not being sleazy ;-) , I really like that song. Also Bedroom Eyes.

There's also a Lisa Stansfield song that I love but don't know the name of. The words are something like:

Been around the world
And I can't find my baby
Don't know where, I don't know why
Why he's gone away
And I don't know where he can be, my baby
But I'm going to find him.

That's my all-time fave Dire Straits song, closely followed by Industrial Disease and Telegraph Road.

Other "oldies" to make my list (there's so many):
Van Halen - Hot For Teacher
Van Halen - Unchained
Iron Maiden - Aces High
White Lion - When The Children Cry

I could go on...
