Yeah, that's a fairly apt comparison. The two are different, but have a similar cruisy style. It's part of the reason I like Dave Matthews' Band as well- kinda cruisy.

In my head at the moment is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow', which is played at the end of 50 First Dates.
