Yeah NHL gamecenter is what you're after.

It opens up not long before the season starts (you should probably check now).

Live games, plus archived games (including from the last 3-5 years), and access to their Vault with historic games, etc.

You should be able to, but to be honest, I tend use gamecenter on Apple TV more...
