The thing is we have serious lack of depth in outside backs. I don't want him in the starting squad but I'd hang on to him until end of year. We get one or two injuries and we're screwed.

He hasn't even bad in these few weeks he's been back.

He made that forward pass to Manu and people are all over him, most of the team made at least one f**k up in that game. Manu shouldn't have been so far in front of him either.

I do prefer Laumape back to centre, but he's good for depth as Benek said. We've already had Laumape miss time that needed to be covered obviously, and Kony always seems a risk of being injured.

I think you are being more than kind. He is limp on attack and in the first half he looked like a deer in headlights on defence and Manu was having to defend 2 guys. In the second half he smartened his ideas up but Cappy probably gave him a rocket.

I didn't say he'd been anything great, just that he hasn't been bad since he came back and he hasn't been. But at this point if he makes a mistake it's enough to confirm to people that he's the devil even if he has a solid game for the most part. Other guys make errors and it just gets overlooked because they aren't the team whipping boy.

Against Manly a lot of the team were shit, yet people point fingers at Nielsen. Like I said I prefer Laumape at centre, but I'm not sure Nielsen is really the one I'd be pointing fingers at after that game. He'll be gone soon anyway.

Reminds me of Tupou, whether Tupou had a good game (it did actually happen sometimes), average game or a bad game, he was always shit.

Nielsen threw a great flick pass off his sideline in the last game. Anyone else see it?

Not sure why he can't do this more often.

Nielsen was solid enough in his first game back, but has been getting progressively more ordinary again. I hope he hasn't become an automatic selection. I would be happy to see Fusitua, Kata or Tua on the wing and Laumape back to centre ASAP. McFadden needs to be looking to the future and I think that its obvious that Nielsen isn't part of it.

Disagree. He also on one occasion caused DCE to hesitate and throw a forward pass with some smart switching. He's good at reading the play unfold when it goes out wide.

Neilsens defensive game is to chase the centre and get him from side/behind, trusting his winger to stay on his man (Manu doesn't do this and instead is watching the centre). This makes a) Manu look crap for being too inside at the wrong time rather than shifting and b) The blame goes on Neilsen for not getting his man when in fact he purposely gets to his man later but all in all safer.

Manu and Neilsen do NOT gel togeather on defence.

I agree with this, on defence Nielson generally looks organised.

My beef with him is that he's horrible on attack, which I could live with if he didn't do anything stupid but this year its been all forward passes and dropped balls.

And like you say he's awful with Manu, can't feed him on attack and somehow draws him in on defence opening up the overlap. Lack of communication?

It's a rumour but...

Neilsen a Rabbit?
Souths' lack of depth and experience in the outside backs is set to see them make a bid for Warriors centre Dane Nielsen in 2015.
Nielsen is under contract to the Warriors for next season but the Kiwi club is believed to be prepared to release him.
A former Storm grand final player and Queensland State of Origin representative, Nielsen has struggled for form in the red-hot Warriors backline.
