Nine Inch Nails Last Show!?!?!

Trent Reznor has announced that Nine Inch Nails will cease to play live ever again in the US. The shock statement was made on stage during the band’s set at the Bonnaroo festival. NIN's were played (after Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on the second night of the Tennessee’s festival), when without wanring Reznor said, "It just dawned on me that this is our last show ever in the United States. Don't be sad. I'll keep going. But I think I'm going to lose my ... mind if I keep doing this, and I have to stop.”

This doesn’t come as a complete shock to anyone who’s been following Reznor activity over the last few months. He’s recently bowed out of all online activity – an area that he devoted a considerable amount of energy towards. He’s also talked about wanting to spend as much time as possible with his fiancé Mariqueen Maandig. His statement was vague enough to leave room for future recorded material and tours beyong the US.

By all accounts NIN’s performance was excellent. One blogger said,”this show was fu*king amazing. They played so many of my favorite songs (Reptile, La Mer, The Day The Whole World Went Away, I'm Afraid Of Americans), and I honestly cried during Hurt, because it may be the last time that I ever see NIN live.”

The band have just finished touring north American with Jane's Addiction, but are continuing to tour internationally over the Euro summer. If this is the end of NIN then they are leaving on a high mark. However retirments in music tend to be short lived. Let's wait and see.

Not surprising.

They made the same announcement in Australia, although back then it was a 'long hiatus'.

I'm not that big a fan of theirs, but live they were brilliant.

No surprise, the tour was called 'Wave Goodbye' after all.

I don't think Trent's done with performing live, he'll be back in a few years (though maybe not as Nine Inch Nails).

He was better when he was on the Junk...

The Fragile is an example of a near faultless album.

Too bad about The Slip, Ghosts, Year Zero, and to a lesser extent With Teeth.
