No cultural cringe as the Bulldogs eye the big prize

Here is just a snipet from an Article in todays Sydney morning Herald about the Bulldogs culture and they compare it to Parras:

Parramatta still haven't recovered from breaking all sorts of records in 2001 only to lose the grand final to Newcastle. Yet the Bulldogs have played through scandal after scandal and are now looking at making amends for being kicked out of the 2002 finals for salary cap abuse.

Why? And more importantly, how?

"I think it's just the culture here, the culture of the club," said Anasta, not showing any sign of a cringe at the word. "[It's] the way everyone works so hard at training and works so hard on and off the field. Everyone just believes in themselves. Canterbury's just an awesome club and has that aura around it. They bring you back to earth. If you at any stage step out of line, or at any stage think you're better than anyone else, they'll bring you straight back down.

"That's the main thing. It's consistency in the way they handle the players and the way that we train and the way we play."

------------

U have to give credit to the scum they do things better than us. Steve Folkes comes across as a mans man who treats his players with respect and trusts them fully while our coach drops players 2 mins before kickoff and so on. Thats why players never want to leave the dogs because the Club takes care of them, they love turning up for the club. Thats why most of there players stay at the club even lower graders untill they are forced to leave after some time.

Sometimes doing things the Old style way like the bulldogs do is better than Parras so called "Professional" outfit.

I don't think the Bulldogs should be commended for their culture of all things. It was clear that during the whole rape allegations situation earlier in the year that the club doesn't have enough respect for women, the game of football, and laws in general. Allegations aside, the way the club and players handled themselves in that position was not up to scratch in my opinion. So they're a bunch of blokes who get on well and play good football together? So what, I don't think they have any right to be claiming there culture is better than any other club's in the comp.

The Bulldogs are scum. They're an absolte disgrace to the sport.

Funny how they are synonymous with illegal acts (illegal shoulder pads, dirty tactics, alleged rape, alleged drug scandals, cheating the salary cap, etc.).

The only thing keeping them in the competition is the fact that there are a lot of foolish and disgraceful people who support this scummy club.

Since they made the '98 Grandfinal I think the dogs have one won just two finals games, and one was against the Storm last year.
Dogs finals results since being blown out in the '98 GF:
'99: Beat Roosters 12-8
Lost to Melbourne: 22-24

'00: did not make Finals

'01: Lost to dragons: 22-23
Lost to Sharks:52-10

'02: Did not make Finals

'03: Blown out by Warriors 48-22
Beat Melbourne 35-0
Blown out by Roosters 28-18

'04 Another loss to add to the list 22-30 Vs Cowboys on there debut :whistle

Yeah those dogs sure are unbeatable in the finals

Braith is right....they have a different culture....a "I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANYONE BUT MYSELF" culture.....they r a disgrace to rugby league.

The immoral crap never gets to them because they have some stupid idea that they never do anything wrong.

This is their culture
- deny everything,
- try to blame everything on someone else
- act like victims when you are the instigators

Yes they are a successful club on the field - but at what cost?.....unfortunately, the disciplinless society we now live in doesn't care about their immoral self centred culture, so nothing is done to change it.

Due to limited tv chances for the Cowboys I haven't been able to see to much of Bowen play, terrific performance last night though, he's gotta be one of the most exciting players in the NRL. Bulldogs may have a winning culture, but it looks like they have a choking culture too.
