no lack of talent

Defence < build it back up!
Way too focused on trying to put a team on the paddock full of individual play makers.
Mary shifting Duges for Quinlan? Hes thought, because we were scoring points when he was fullback!
Forget that shit, pointless when we are constantly having to chase on the score board.

I chuckled at the Mary logic; we scored 110 points in three games with Quinlan at fullback, but was any thought given to the opposition (or lack thereof) during those matches? :?

It was rounds 1 through to 3...there is no such thing as a form guide during the opening month of the premiership. I don't care if we score 50,000 points in the first month of the competition, because it counts for so little and tells you nothing in the grand scheme of things. Wake up to yourself Mary you idiot :p

Correct, we do have a lot of great talent on offer , but as mentioned above , it is sadly misused with either players being played out of position or really BAD game plans!!

I was really exited about the squad this year and after 3 rounds thought, yes we're on for a good year!! But then came the start of the squad juggling and terrible game plans.

We need an strong willed experienced coach not a passive coach!!

Positive post but wrong unfortunately. We are being MURDERED in the front row every week. Think the Roosters, Bulldogs, Rabbitohs etc. We need at least 2 major props and a class hooker. The front row sets the platform in attack. They create room to allow a world class hooker to craft the attack. They allow the halves to play on the front foot. Until we get some size and power in the front row we will continue to get slaughtered. Playing 105 kilo back rowers in the front row does not work.

They played teams that were not ready and we had"" peaked ""Cant believe that they are harping on the first 3 games that shows me they have got nothing at all as coaches .What a poor excuse to have Quinlan play fullback and move Dugan .This club is treating their supporters like children with the shit they keep dishing up.NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNTIL THEY CLEAN OUT AND GET A NEW COACH FROM OUTSIDE THE CLUB.............

You just need to look at players that have left the dragons in recent years and how they are performing in other teams.

Soward and Scott are the obvious examples. Scott was practically the man of the match in Origin 1 and Soward is one of the form 5/8's in the comp. Compare that to their form in their last year with us?

Heck, even Vidot and Stanley are playing decent football for good teams.

We all thought the roster was the issue so we went out and recruited big time. Guess what...same result. What does that tell you?

Talent on paper can only take you so far....a good environment, good culture, good coaching and a team playing with unity is just as important. These have been sadly lacking since Bennett left.

Sure there is talent. But it's the players in between that talent that's our problem. Too many over rated players we put too much faith in to.

De belin.
Hunt.
Rein.
Matthews.
Harrison.
Ah Mau.
Thompson.

All the above players should be shed. Purchase players to replace them. Get a new coach. Problem solved.

A new coach is obviously a must.
The players listed are also the problem apart from Thompson and Rein who can be better under another coach. We don't have inspiration coming off the bench let alone our starting pack.People laugh at a George Rose coming off the bench, but his first hit up is met with big hit up,the crowd gets involved all of a sudden and the team gets a roll on .

Rein does a tremendous amount of defensive work which seems to go unnoticed

The following players should not be retained:

Matthews

Ah Mau

Hunt

Harrison

DeBelin and Stockwell would improve very quickly with a couple of experienced and or aggressive props to lead the way.

A coach with self belief and a serious game plan would also help heaps.

We have a young side that needs leaders on and off the field.

If the players were being coached by a credible confident experienced coach we would be performing much better than we are.

Doust f@cked up yet again by not dismissing McGregor when he dismissed Price. They are peas in a pod. We are going to cop more of the same with Mary guiding the flock.

The players need to do the basics well.

Run hard in attack, move forward as a unit and defend as a unit.

The backs are talented enough, the simply need a pack of forwards that makes good ground every set of 6 tackles. Peddling backwards all the time dents the confidence and leads to players giving away foolish penalties. We have given away too many penalties this season on tackle 4 or 5.

I will be surprised if we beat Cronulla tomorrow. They have 11 guys out but our confidence is so low, its debatable whether we will do the business.

Crossing my fingers the guys are embarrassed enough now to have a go for 80 minutes.

Great post Pinkmoon. Maybe if the can snag a few wins and build confidence they may get out of this hole they are in. They can start this week with a huge convincing win over the Sharks. A bit of confidence will work wonders.

Sure we have some talent. But we also don't. If you are fair Dinkum in appraising our roster we have plenty of over rated players who don't have what it takes. 6 or 7 players need to be moved on.

We have a great back 3 and a 5/8, add Merrin and frizzel. That's it. Hardly enough to make the top 8 or top 4.

No props. No centres. No half back. No hooker. No hard ass forwards willing to to the tough stuff.

Oh and no coach.

Sorry for the reality check but it's the truth. It's no wonder we are languishing at the bottom.

Spot on ,but if we can snag a couple of forwards to give us some go forward,a rejuvenated Marshall could be fantastic for us.

I agree. But Steve price made many bad decisions. He had to go as he's contributed to this mess as much as anyone.

He cut Soward and king
He refused to use Vea (he was the hardest running forward in the cutter)
He signed Williams, Witt and groat - all of which haven't worked. Groat hasn't even been used.
He signed Farrell. He's steady at best but wasn't the style if player we needed in the centres.
He signed the likes of dan hunt on long term deal.
He persisted with green and chose not to use Peter M
He signed Bronson Harrison who hasn't performed at all
He signed Joel Thompson who hasn't performed at all.

Price got A LOT of things badly wrong and should not feel hard done by. He had plenty of time and grossly under performed.

We need a coach with either absolutely zero ties to the club or the guts to come in and sack a lot of players.

Here's hoping. Only really leaves bennett, sheens.

I think the poor quality of the coach begets most of our player issues. For example, under a decent coach guys like Mata'utia, Beale, Marshall will shine. Friz and JDB (in their rightful positions) would pick up. And with andwcent forward leader, Stockwell will improve too. I'd add Cooper to your list of guys who are decent.

Sure, we need to get rid of a bit of deadwood, get a decent hooker and some more props, but I think a decent coach would go a long way.

I can't believe u don't rate De Belin! He has a go everytime he plays and runs onto the ball with purpose-and got suspended for a week for a great hit on one of the souths giants in the game at the SCG-he is still only young-23 or so, so cut him some slack-the rest, yes, time to go.

Dan Hunt under Bennett was great. He has gone backwards thanks to Price. Rein's form has dropped as well. Players like Au Mau & Matthews won't get a run in any other NRL side bar the Dragons.

Farrell was coming good till he got injured and Saints have probably the best halves combo in many years.
Once they get the proper coach all will be good. McGregor may come good. It has only been 2 games.
