As much as a no-name as Dufty, Garrick, Herbert and Luciano (until his debut).

You can't label under 20s players with "no-name" you imbecile

This. Forever and ever.

There is such a thing as building for the future. it's obvious you don't watch the lower grades. This guy is a QLD under 20s origin rep and hits the line harder than most forwards in the NRL. Not to mention he's massive, with ball skills.

Big statement idiot i was saying again we should sign our own in Leilua he is a under 20 s player with a bigger future and talent. Instead of a unknown under 20 player from other clubs look after our own juniors.

The problem is not signing promising youngsters and developing team. It's filling your cap with guys in their mid 20s already at or past their prime. We can't sign big names. We need to identify and sign good young players on the rise and give them opportunities along with our own young players.

Its about the future dude. We sign this skillfull kid... then we sign Leilua... sign host... extend frizzell... add another 1 or 2 big boys from our 20s... and we are looking good long term.
Theres a few in the 20s getting talked up.. heme or sele... alot cheaper then established stars and some could develop into more skillfull and damaging players then some established more expensive stars.
Kerr signing is a Smart move as far as im concerned.

The thing to wonder/worry about is why haven't the club signed Leluia ,IF they can get the deal done with a kid from another club, why can't they get Luciano over the line ,no doubt bickering about money as usual.

Kerr has been on the radar for at least 6 weeks to my knowledge. The issue with Leilua only surfaced as urgent after his debut last week.
Kerr, like Leilua, are both very promising youngsters and I really hope the cotrect deal is being sorted as we speak. I guess including him in the 18 at least shows intent and I actually expect him to get a start over Matthews, but we will know that early on Saturday when the Cutters play

These types of signings are always a worry IMO.

It suggests to me we have not secured a couple of desirable signatures from within our own junior ranks.

It would be nice for once if the club had said:

"We have secured the signatures of the following players from within our junior ranks and this concludes are upgrades of player contracts.

These St GI juniors are the players we believe will form the foundation of our future.

In addition to this we have also signed the following promising young players from other clubs to add to our playing stocks"

Unfortunately we don't secure our own quickly enough and then we panic and start recruiting elsewhere before season end which makes it even harder to sign the one's we originally wanted form within our own club.

I also notice that in other threads people are already selecting this young fellow in their "dream teams" and have abandoned young Host and consigned him to the scrap heap.

Bleat all the time for our youngsters to be given a go and then jump on the bandwagon of somebody from another club hard to fathom some people's thinking.

Why would Leulia sign a contract now. While he is getting a run in first grade you would surely wait until the end of the season. Proving his worth in FG has to be worth a rise in contract value

Maybe the club is showing faith in the lad, albeit at the end of a poor season. If the kid get some good coin on a reasonable term, why would he leave?

Should they not have given him any 1st grade exposure ? How would that have helped?

Im not 100% sure, but I think he will stay. and I agree with the club giving him exposure and confidence now.

I still can't believe we re-signed Thompson with Frizell, Sims, Matthews, Host and Leilua in our team.

Ridiculous.

He does have a name and it's Josh Kerr.

Another redundant thread started when one for the same subject was started 10 minutes earlier.

Seriously.
