No room for Superman

Jason Kent didn't show all that when he played in the centres. He was solid, but nothing great.

Then he moves to halfback, and he's suddenly a "must keep" star. What the?!?

I want to keep him, but if he moves on, we can cover it.

Kent has only been covering for Kimmorley, because of no other suitable option. If Dykes turns up next year, we've got one option right there. And then there's Aitken, who will be a year older.

Keep Kent if we can, if not, well, good luck to him at cracking 1sts at the Dragons.

I want to keep Kent for a long term fullback. That is his position and the skills he has shown and defence shows why he is the man to take over from Peach. It will be a joke if Simmo becomes our best fullback when Peach goes.

This is a disgrace. Sharks management are so incompetent I could burn the jersey. At least the previous gun administrator lived and breathed Cronulla-Sutherland, yet he was crucified for his heroism in cutting up a Dragqueens jersey!

I was just telling a friend about that incident the other day. She didn't believe people cared so much about league in Sydney.. and could get so passionate about it. pfft. Good memories that!

Your right Tama, it is a disgrace, the bad news just keeps piling on at the moment.

insanity.

for all the non-believers - i don't think anybody is suggesting that kent is like the greatest player to lace up a set of footy boots, but compared to merritt, simmonds and some of our other backs he really is a superman.

plus he has the added bonus of utility value AND he can actually tackle. why keep the rubbish and ditch the quality ? #-o

this sucks :?

I'm really scratching my head at some of the recruiting decisions from the club this year.

They were after a good outside back and yet let Best go to the Lizards when he would go very well in our team imo.

They bought Covell since he can kick goals yet Hildder has a better average than Covell post knee problem.

Now to let Kent go?

He's going solidly, but I'm not too fussed if he goes. He's hardly goping to come back and carve us up. I'd keep him for depth and utility value, but I wont be shattered if he leaves.

Field will make a good go to man when our halves are out of the team due to injury or SOO. We don't have to pay him so what is wrong with you knockers when we can call on an experienced player to fill in.

I think people might be objecting because they feel he is a cheating, drug dealing, whinging piece of sh'it..

EDIT: Due to atrocious grammar.

That makes for an interesting question

you're right, we don't have to pay him, unless we sign him.

BUT

what are the salary cap implications gonna be if we do have to use some Newtown players who are under their employ I wonder?

Also as our main cap will be used for our top 25, as always, and they'll be either playing NRL or for the Jets where do we fit in context of the second tier cap?

Does that $300,000 go to our Flegg side? Be good if it did.

Must be some interesting behind the scenes stuff happening with this marriage.

Not to mention some major problems with the Liquor Licencing board and the NSW clubs authority which led to him being banned for quite a few years from holding certain positions in a registered club

Kent, he's not a bad utility player, not the second coming of Jesus. It 's a shame but not the end of the world if he leaves the Sharks. Quite frankly we've lost better players than Jason Kent over the last two years. I'm not going to loose any sleep over Kent going to another club. I was more upset when Mellor, McKenna, Best, and Campbell left.

He's really done nothing over the last month to suggest he is the messiah some are making him out to be.

Sure, he's got potential and I'd rather keep him, but I'm not slitting my wrists over it.
