To be honest, I've got high hopes for the premiership in the next two years. I don't think our roster is one of the best in the game. Really, we have one class player in most positions.

Marshall - 5/8
Farah - Hooker
Ellis - Backrow
Galloway - Prop
Lawrence - Centre
Tuiaki/Tuqiri - wing

My only concerns are halfback/fullback. Obviously they are key positions. I'm confident Moltzen will do a good job in whichever of the two he plays, but I'm somewhat worried about the other.

All in all though, it's an understatement to say I'm excited about the season.

It depends if his inside backs feed him properly..if they do and he scores some tries early in the season his confidence will be up and he will contribute.
However even before he left for rah rah he was something of a glorified bludger, and then reading all his own press just inflated his ego which made matters worse, he had a couple of good seasons with rah rah but coming back to league will test him, and he will be back into his old demon drink again which seems to affect his type more than others..if he stays sober he may contribute.

Lote will do very well in his return to rugby league. Very well in fact. If an aging Wendell Sailor can come back to do what he did for the Dragons, I think Lote can do that and exceed it for the Tigers.

Timana Tahu for the Eels will also do very well and play Origin for NSW.

if moltzen plays fullback than i think u will find Lote will be taking it back every set, moltzen just never runs from fullback at all

whilst i hope he does well after hearing the stats brandy said last night on the radio i've gpot some doubts.

he played 4 seasons with the broncos for 6 origins and 6 tests
he's played 67 games for the wannabees over 8 years

he'smore a yawnion player than a leaguie and whilst he hadnt even reached his peak in league when he left im wondeirng whtehr the past 8 years of catching colds is really beneficial in any way. theoretically physically he should be up to it but id imagine you'd lose a lot of skills doing nothing for 80mins but watching fat f**kers jump on each other

you also have to remember rogers and sailor had a lot more league experience than tuquiri when they left and sailor is probably one of the most competitive people i've ever seen (so i wasnt surprised at his success upon return)

publicity-wise this will help the tigers immensley and it's also brought more attention to the NRL which is a good thing

Does this mean Lote will be available for round 1?

No Chance- round 5 will be earliest unless leicester release him early.....

Lote is what the Tigers are missing in the backline- a cool head, with presence..... remeber that origin game he scored 18 points and the match winner from memory.... who else has come close to that for the tigers.....Benji's GF pass........Farah has kicked a couple of wobbly field goals to get us home in a regular match.......not really the same....

Good signing for two reasons:

1 - He can kick goals. Tigers lost a LOT of narrow games last year through Benji's 60% goalkicking. I saw him kick one directly in front, BEHIND the halfway line for the Waratahs, probably the hardest kick for goal I can think of. Union is slow, less-skilled and boring as all hell, but one thing they do well is kick goals.

2 - He's a giant, even if he's not as fast as he used to be. With TNT on one wing and Tuqiri on the other, and Marshall feeding them, I think we're going to see the Tigers score a LOT of tries out wide this year.

HOWEVER, I think he'll be really unfit after having played kick-and-clap for so long. The game is a lot faster now than it was when he left, and I think he'll have a hard time adjusting, especially for the first part of the season. And he's playing with Leicester too, so he'll miss the entire offseason.

This will say more about the state of the NSW backline than Tahus form tbh

True in some respects, NSW are pretty thin out wide. With that said, I think you will see Tahu return as one of the dominant centres in the game period. The guy is a freakish athlete with loads of talent.

Timana Tahu vs Greg Inglis will be one hellova battle and not a one sided affair like it has been in previous seasons for NSW centres. G.I. will be facing a play who will match it with him physically and has the skills to boot. A classic match up for 2010.

I hope both Lote and Tahu crash and burn tbh
What, so Politis can snap them up?

Tahu will face Hodges - and on his 07 form, will eat him. But he'll have his 10 form, so we'll see. BTW, we aint thin out wide. Jennings, Hayne, Morris and Morris, plus the return of Snake......

Tahu's a great athlete but no one compares to Inglis as a physical specimen.
Umm, you don't play League in a jar of formaldehyde. Or maybe you are a bit more like Wittyfan than we think!

I was referring to droid's statement where he said that Tahu would match it with Inglis physically.

And so what if I admire a fellow man's structure. Nothing wrong with that.

1. Highly unlikely Tahu is matching up with Hodges, I don't think he will be back in time and if he is, he won't have enough game time under his belt.

2. Jennings on the end of an All-Star Aussie back line looks the part at rep evel - no doubt. The problem he has and will continue to have at Origin level facing the great Inglis is the other aspect of the game that is all important when looking at a complete package: defense.

3. NSW are IMO thin out wide despite having some real talent in Jarryd Hayne and the Morris brothers. Proof was in the pudding last season when NSW scrambled to find a back line capable of matching up with us (QLD). Brett Stewart is a gem too though. We have to some how find room for our backs, NSW don't have that problem. FWIW, my NSW 1-5: Stewart, Hayne, Tahu, Morris, Morris. That's as good it gets. Outside that, it's a stretch barring the argument for fullback where there is depth.

As for Tahu not being physically able to match it with Inglis, give me a break. The guy is running around at 105-108kg and is quick, perhaps not as quick as Inglis these days, though quick and powerful. Tahu is a physical specimen like counterpart Inglis.

Lawrence is a pretty fine back up centre (though I think he'll make the team somewhere).

Also expecting big things from Tuqiri. The bloke is a natural athlete and although he has been playing union for the past 8 years now, he is a professional footballer who has been training with the Waratahs and Wallabies fulltime. He would of continuously been working on his ball skills, kick returns, positional play regardless of the fact he was catching a cold during games. Some have the opinion that there is no training involved and the blokes just run out on the field on the weekends and hope for the best...
