South Sydney star and premiership hero Sam Burgess is one of two high-profile Rabbitohs players involved in the lewd video chat scandal that has forced the club to go into damage control, with the incident threatening to derail the Bunnies’ NRL finals run.
According to the Daily Telegraph, a 23-year-old woman was engaged in a conversation on Burgess’ Facebook Messenger account, which resulted in one man exposing his genitals and another his backside during the live Face chat.
Screenshots of Burgess and some of his teammates during the video call have been obtained by News Corp, and the English star’s social media message threads reportedly confirm contact between the forward and the woman in question.
Burgess refused to elaborate on the circumstances involving the video and the subsequent investigation when contacted by the publication for comment yesterday.
Burgess, whose wife is pregnant with the couple’s second child, began communicating with the female after she sent the Souths star a message on Instagram, to warn him about a fake profile set up in his name on the dating app Tinger.
Burgess allegedly responded by asking if the woman swiped right and then suggested she have a video chat with him and “the boys”.
The woman then claims she received several video calls from Burgess’ personal Facebook account.
