On the introduction of the Bears , I can assure you there is absolutely no love lost between PVL and Stokes. I am aware of a potential billion dollar deal (not NRL related) that was scrapped due to their differences. This project is currently in the news.

It was wonderful to have Araga Eresi, Malcolm Pang Jnr, Ukerey Sabumei, Daisy Watalie and staff from the PNG NRL Academy showcase the program at the #YumiStapWantaim launch this week, after their major finale at the National School Championships Grand Finals on Saturday in front of a crowd of 1000 people.
As Papua New Guinea celebrates 50 years of independence, Australia proudly celebrates our enduring partnership, shared values, and deep people-to-people ties with PNG.
What better way to celebrate this connection and friendship than through sport? Supported by the Australian Government through the PNGAus Partnership, the PNG NRL Academy identifies and develops the next generation of male and female rugby league players, selecting standout players from school competitions throughout the country.

Last year 53 per cent of the 2024 Junior Orchids squad came from the Academy and 59 per cent of 2025 Open Age Boys players were selected to play in the PNGRFL National Youth Competition. We are proud of the PNG NRL Academy delivering real and tangible results in rugby league pathways development in PNG.
We stand together with PNG when they join the NRL in 2028 and will be there step by step in their ambitions in establishing a pathway for a PNG women’s NRL team through a premier Australian competition.

They reckon that Mal and Sam have joined forces to bump BA out of the WA Bears job.

Mal will mentor Sam etc.

This is what happens when you do a Zoom interview and the interviewer realises you went the whole time without wearing shoes.

In that podcast on triple m they also mentioned that BA was boring as batshit with the media. Nine years as a head coach and has no profile yet gets trumped by the token immortal who had a 9 second political career.

Johns by some margin. A dickhead, but a phenomenal force.

Hard to find anyone more skilful and influential to their teams success.
JT was a force in a shit team.

Joey didn’t excel as he should have at rep level*

JT for me.

How many times he was forced to play hooker is an example of this.

Johns played halfback in jersey 9 in those Origin games, with Toovey at dummy half. But Johns got the added defensive burden of defending in the middle. Some examples in these highlights:

He was a phenomenal player.

I still remember that day that Johns chucked a tantrum at Parra Stadium when we successfully stifled the Knights attack and he wasn't getting his own way.

Was hilarious, and demonstrated for me the pedestal Joey been given was a little higher than deserved.

That said, of the bunch offered up in the article I would also go for JT - but none of them held a candle to Sterlo, in my view.
