A bush fire is burning in bushland in the Yuraygir National Park and Shark Creek area, south of Yamba. The fire has burnt more than 7,750 hectares and is out of control.
Current Situation
The fire is burning in bushland in the Yuraygir National Park and Shark Creek area, south of Yamba.
There is fire burning to the north and south of Angourie and Wooloweyah. The fire is impacting on the southern side of the villages.
Fire fighters were able to strengthen containment lines below Gulmarrad, with back burning and blacking out.
Overnight the fire breached containment lines North of Angourie village to the east of Angourie Road, the fire has slowly progressed north easterly towards Yamba.
The southerly change forecast, is expected to impact the fireground until late morning. This may push the fire further towards Yamba.
Firefighters are working to protect homes in the area.
