Yeh, it's as much the electoral college system in this case. Clinton won the popular vote (i.e. more Americans who voted did so for Clinton than for Trump). Her votes clustered more heavily within states. But this has happened 5 or 6 times before.

There are just as many 'Pro-Trump' knobs who know nothing as there are 'Anti-Trump' knobs who know nothing. Being ignorant is not the exclusive domain of one side of politics.

I'm not disagreeing, I just do not happen to have one 'Pro-Trump' person on my social media feeds is all.

If 25.5% voted for Trump, what was the percentage that voted for Clinton?

Latest numbers are

At 5 a.m. on the West Coast, the Associated Press showed Clinton with 59.16 million votes nationally, compared to Trump's 59 million votes.

Im not buying all these numbers

48.6% of population voted
25.5% of population voted for trump
So, 23.1% of population voted for hillary ... hang on, she got more votes didnt she?

160k votes difference is practically nothing and hardly worth a claim that she won the popular vote ... I'd call it 50/50

Makes you wonder what sort of people must have voted him in.

I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread, forgive me if it has....but the sort of people who voted him in are desperate Middle Americans who have been abandoned by both Republican and Democratic governments and who live with the worst poverty in America, the worst unemployment rates in America, the worst drug addiction rates in America, the lowest education levels in America, and so on and so on. The kind of people whose dad and grandad and great grandad worked at the local mill or factory or whatever straight out of highschool and made enough to support their family, own a house and live a life that doesn't exist any more.

Trump promised a return to those days. It's no wonder a huge chunk of Middle America voted for him, and I can't blame them despite my feelings about Trump

So it's like voting for Little House On The Prarie or The Wonder Years for President...?

Trump promised to return to things that are impossible to return to, given his vaccuum of policy detailing how he proposes to return to these cherished memories and times. People who believe and get swayed by empty promises are... kinda dumb in my book.

Or desperate and sick of being neglected. Trump is a disgrace, but the fact he won shows just how deep the divide between the America they show the world and the reality of life in middle America really is. Some parts of the American heartland are no different to a third world country these days.
