True story - Peter Allen’s Tenterfield Saddler is about Gary and was originally called Tenterfield GuzzlerWas that in 2011? I spent a bit of time in Lismore as a kid (lived in Tenterfield) and have vivid memories of the 1974 flood marker levels.

Yes it’s a euphemism for the dwindling service pizza delivery boys provideIs that a euphemism
I don’t think that’s appropriate*Tenterfield Straddler.

Sounds like a flood of biblical proportions. What type of buisness?
FFS.
This is kinda like Lismore, 'cept the levies go 'round most of the town. So most floods aren't a problem.
My business location is at a lower part of the highway, so like this picture we don't get a little flood, it's nothing, or, when it overtops the levy it's about 1.8 m plus deep, there's no in between.
I hope Glen Innes council sued for royalties. What's less well-known is that the late George Woolnough actually lived in Glen Innes. But the town's name didn't lend lend itself to the meter of the song.
So you're good at ark welding?Ark building.
B/w the late 70s and late 80s it seemed to be every 2nd year that Lismore would go under. I know b/c the Coffs Harbour paper was printed in LIsmore and I got the day off my paper round a few times.
So you're good at ark welding?
I had a look at the original plans for my property recently and it's measured in chains and rods. I think it's four chains to a rod.Arks be made of timber.
As an aside, you have no f**king idea how hard it is to buy a tape measure that measures in old testament cubits.
The following picture just goes to show how bad the inundation was for western Sydney.
Imagine a bigger flood? So, so many more properties would go under.
Right click on the pic for a bigger version.
Yeah the levies have been built up over time and eliminated all that nuisance flooding. So now if we get a flood event of any consequence, it's of a fair bit more consequence.
For many business' in the CBD, when the 2017 flood hit, it kinda made it worse because they had no memory or realisation of what can happen, they just thought the levy would hold it back.
I can attest to many floods that scourged Lismore in the time I lived there. Molesworth St was a favourite place for Army Ducks to show their wares. South Lismore was no different.Yeah the levies have been built up over time and eliminated all that nuisance flooding. That might explain why everyone referred to Mt Mackenzie as Brokeback Mountain.True story - Peter Allen’s Tenterfield Saddler is about Gary and was originally called Tenterfield Guzzler
