Maybe I'm getting older... well actually, of course I am, but the carry on from those idiots in the parliament the other day, followed by the obligatory ridicule targeted towards anyone who doesn't support their actions by the likes of Aly et al, does nothing for their agenda or ideaologies. Like 84 Baby alluded to a few posts above, the condescending way in which Aly, Bickmore and Co on the Project, along with others like Tom Tilley and like minded bleeding hearts on triple J, carry themselves has become almost identical to the way merkins like Alan Jones and Andrew Bolt would behave. And yet they deplore everything about the latter 2 but have morphed in to versions the same of, except entering from stage left instead of right.

Criticism of these pillars of society though will often be painted as intolerant ramblings of an anti-islamist, sexist buffoon.... The fact is I see just as much intolerance from an Aly or a Bickmore as I do from a Bolt or Jones

They are uni students.

Be careful who you are condemning by the way, some of these protesters might be running your country in a decade.

Believe it or not, this version of Joe Hockey actually protested against an attack on free university education for all

Student Joe Hockey protesting university fee increases

“We continue to go out onto the streets and to protest, and actively encourage the public to support us in our campaign for free education,” the young Hockey said.

Its not news that these sorts of dodgy student protest types often turn in to politicians.

Its probably why politicians aren't particularly popular either.

What I'm curious about is how those protesters on Day 2 were actually able to scale that wall and hoist that banner.
The Govt has been talking about closing down the lawn around Parliament House to the public due to the heightened terrorist security risk yet protestors can scale the front wall without security intervention?
How the f**k does that happen?

As far as political commentators go, those who bat for the centre are boring as bat shit and appear on Radio National or SBS. It's the "radical" left and the "conservative" right that stir shit up and provide ratings.

So on the basis that political commentary is ratings driven, why are you so surprised that merkins like Waleed Aly or Andrew Bolt say what they say ?

Yes they should not have done that and yet again uni students have run amok. Shit like this has been happening since the 60's and it probably will for eternity. Let's carry on like it's a new thing though.
Well I guess there's effective ways of protesting and then there's bongheads

Yes I was surprised by the security breach. Massive drop ball by the Federal Police. Can't imagine that happening at the White House or No.10.

Well at least he would have repaid those fees. I assume

I'm not surprised by what they say - not sure why you're of that impression.

What I am surprised by, is the way so called educated people who were born with a mind of their own, so easily lean towards one side or the other and will quote newspaper articles, or re-post tweets or highlight opinion polls and pieces if it suits their agenda... do you know any people like that Gronk??

I am unsure how you conclude that (so called) educated people "so easily" lean to one side or another ?

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Are you for real?
You only have to watch one episode of Q & A to realise this.

The claim from @Incorrect is how "so called" educated people "so easily" lean to one side or another. Not that many do or don't, but the ease of how it happens.

TBH there are merkins who sit on the left and just as many who sit on the right. How they got there is a matter of their own personal journey. The leader of the greens is highly educated (medicine) and Abbott is a Rhodes scholar, yet they both went to uni yet ended up in different political spheres. Did they lean that way because they are easily manipulated by their peers or by the media ? Of course not.

Again, to suggest that people end up at one end of politics because they are brain dead zombies and unable to think for themselves is pretty naive.

Doesn't make their behaviour any less Dickbagish.
