It might be the preparation. Takes longer and more energy to cook a chook and pull it apart than beef mince.
The key word there is mince IMO. If a chicken burger was made of a chicken mince patty, I reckon you'd see a little more parity in pricing across the fowl and bovine based burgers....

Probably but you can get chicken thighs for about $6 a kg whereas beef mince is about double that. There needs to be an investigation.
