Well Musk, Zuckerberg and co. aren’t required by law to cooperate with the CCP. In fact they are known to comply with privacy laws enforced by Western governments.

Video platforms like TikTok also carry risks related to facial recognition and deep fake impersonation.

I'm cool with the stance on Huawei / 5G as it's a critical infrastructure issue. However there's reds under the bed element to this Tiktok thing. Youtube collect more data than anyone but they get zero focus, google follows me around like a bad smell and samsung literally knows what my heart rate is right now from my gear watch.

As for complying for western laws, yeah Facebook et al are the trustworthy ones. They just aided and abetted election misinformation. Very compliant after they were caught, seems to be their MO.

Then you are misinterpreting what I am saying. If they are serious about protecting your data, then they should f**king do it. At the moment they are saying that your data is safe with western organisations, just not the Chinese.

However history shows us that big data can't be trusted, and in my view, they are just as bad as the tiktok mob. So merkins might think that I am siding with one side and not the other. From my POV however, it's a bit like saying that Marlboro are bad for you and saying nothing about Winnie Blues.
