I mean music was a subculture. There where many different subcultures - grunge, rave, metal, punk. Now there is nothing attached.

Music now is just about the beats. Still a lot of talent and ok to listen to. BUT It doesn't influence or shape a generation anymore. It is solely just music. It's quite sad really when you think about how much power music had on a teenager feeling like they belonged or could relate to a group.
Many musicians where quite poetic and empathetic who wanted to spread a message and make the world a better and more peacefull place.
It is sad that music has lost this gift. But the way the world has gone now it is understandable

The world has moved on in the good and bad ways.

Almost all of the big musicians from the past were products anyways weren’t they?

Here’s my recollection of a 1970’s song from the album “ “Gronksplaining” by the Phantom Silverfish, a great Newcastle band.

“Ralphlette Shazza ”

“ Come into the back of my Belmont Panelvan, swallow this kb and suck on my Winnie Red”

Drum solo

Don’t mind the mattress, spunk, it’s for my Rufus Alsatian. Ha ha ha

“Come into my spiderweb of dreams. I will be the and you can kiss my feet. You will like that, because…”

Lead Break

“Quit your job, because I am king and dinner better be served when I get home, or else”

Lead break

“ then tomorrow night, I want to meet your sister and introduce her to my waterbed”

Electric keg

“ Vomiting is good because you can keep on drinking more kb”

Lead break

My Raphlette Shaz, i own you!

Made number 3 on 2SM Rocktober 1976.

Never go full Silverdale.
My point is to be wary of the memory lane.

We had entrenched sexism and racism in this country for awhile.

You should like my caution because it’s a disguised message of some of the benefits of wokeyism.

Kiss and all these other bands used to carry on about mounting a lot of people like it’s a badge of honour.

I’m glad those days are over.

If you like this post Gaz, I’m happy to spend the “week on the woke”

And for the record, I like my @Gronk in small doses throughout the day. I don’t agree with him half the time, but he goes Ok.

But no one cares to agree here, it’s more of a happy accident!

Maybe the other thing that has always pissed me off about popular music is all this love and romance bullshit

And constant harking to reminiscing.

But today of course, most music is about trying to be cool or portraying women as sex objects. Music designed by algorithms.

It might be better to shut down the pop music industry until it send positive messages to young people.

A message brought to you by “ wokey week”

Im off for a watercress and coriander non gluten wrap.

Welcome to “Wokey Week” where all I am going to do is support modern and progressive causes.

You know I see a lot of houses and stuff without the solar panels.

I think what we need to do is to allow folk access to their superannuation to stick them on the roof and the excess power can be sold back to the grid.

People renting can do the same and also receive a nice fat credit for the installation when they move on.

As part of my wokey immigration effort, Palestinians and Israelis can get a middle eastern crisis visa and would be welcome to move to regional centres here, subject to indigenous oversight.

I will send ships and the raaf out on a mercy mission to the region, under the un flag.
