Stick to engineering mate.

Half a metre of rain is 500 mm's. And it is nowhere near 2 years of rain. Are you taking the piss?
Some places have had more than that in the past 24 hrs.
Black Mountain, north of Cairns had 640 mm's for the 24 hrs till 9 am this morning.

And try this place - another 24 hr total.

And then there is this official table......, which is only up till yesterday.

Many places are up near or over the 2000 mm mark (2 metres) of rainfall in the past week.

It's why the Barren Falls look like this.....

And we've seen scenes like this.....

And this........

For the record, the highest ever Australian daily rainfall record has been broken. Over 900 mm's in one day. Still to be officially confirmed by the BoM.
The rainfall has been that intense that many gauges are not keeping up and many have gone down and are not recording.
This is a catastrophe of epic proportions. Luckily the population density in the worst hit areas is low, but that is no solace for those that live up there and who are suffering
Sadly, there will be massive stock losses as well. All washed away.
Gaz, you chose a great time to fly to Tassie and play on beautiful golf courses.

Incredible amount of water. Very lucky to have been able to get on a plane when we did.
