This might be too conformist beta male cuck for some but instead of making Newington co-ed we should just tear it down. While we're at it abolish all private education
Agreed. The rights of wealthy parents to choose advantages for their own children shouldn't trump the rights of children with broke (or just shit) parents to get some parity of opportunity. Children already benefit enough growing up with good advice. It's unfair if they also get to go to much better schools than their future employees/muggers.

Yep, the gov will have to re-open the dozen public high schools they have closed over decades across Woollahra Waverley Randwick councils. Re-open ? Oops they can’t because they cashed in on the expensive dirt and those sites are long gone. So they will need to compulsorily acquire the existing private schools (which will cost billions) and just let merkins in for free. Sounds very socialist. LOL the libs will shit their livers. Lock it in Eddie.

This lady was pissed enough to go on skynews and the Nine newspapers. She mostly wasn’t happy that local MP Tanya Plibersek said that shit like that was up to schools. Long bow.

She said she could pull her kids from the school, but she will fight the fight.

But when the reporter said, wait, your boys will be long gone from the school before it even goes co-ed, she wouldn’t answer.

Context: the proposal is to admit girls in kindergarten and year 5 from 2026 onwards, and to become fully co-educational by 2033, has been a lightning rod in the well-connected school’s community and further afield, as some of the country’s oldest boys’ schools ponder breaking tradition by turning co-ed.

From my experience there are more and more cashed up westies nowdays then prior. I'm not talking filthy rich which is probably only the top few percent anyhows like many in the North shore/Eastern suburbs. But It's a cheaper lifestyle in the west and plenty are making a solid income similar to many people living in wealthier areas minus the higher cost of housing affordability.

St Marys Cathedral College at Hyde Park Sydney - boys going co-ed
De La Salle in Ashfield set to merge with an adjacent girls’ school, Bethlehem College
Barker College has already gone co-ed
The Armidale School has already gone co-ed
Marist Bros North Sydney has gone co-ed

Edit: James Ruse went co-ed yonks ago.

Edit2.0

Randwick Boys and Randwick Girls are merging.

In Georges River, Penshurst Girls and Hurstville Boys will each become separate co-ed schools in two years' time.

Are they hurting financially?
I dont know. Thats why im asking. I dont see much media coverage of them, but i may have missed it.

If they are not hurting financially then why not?

More girls? ... have we run out of boys?

Better managed?

More to it than just financial?

I would say public schools are a massively different thing to private schools like Newington.

Completely different reasoning to switch.

I would imagine its a proximity thing more than anything. Why would you want your kid to have to travel 30-45 mins to a boys/girls school than 10 mins down the road.
