Boom, the penny has dropped. The fine line between satire and defamation is that satirical representations can’t make accusations without factual basis.

Betoota was absolutely without any factual basis. Very cheeky. So to, it is alleged, that Pauline’s cartoon made imputations about the Irwan kid that were crazy untrue. Dunno which bits.

In summary the law says you can put shit on someone for larfs, but you can’t make shit up and then joke about that lie, for larfs.

Some might argue that comedy is dead, but it is what it is until it isn’t.

Thanks Pou but I don't see this as being complicit in your allegation (report) that the image is illegal. The eSafety Commissioner is there to offer support but it does not mention any legislation to which this image may be seen to be breaching.

It's certainly not porn, partial nudity or cultural defamation/mockery.

I would imagine this is between Betoota Advocate and the fish and chip lady rather than LU.

I do appreciate you bringing it to our attention though.
