I agree. I had the same experience when I was there. But as I said, i don't mind tipping in OZ if I think the waiter/business deserves it. What I don't like is them thinking they can throw an automatic gratuity on the bill that you need to ask to have taken off if you don't want to pay it. And that 3% will become 15% -20% before you know it.

I always tip, unless it's really poor service / food. Anyone dealing with the public at the level of service demanded of waitstaff, and having to put up with some of the dumb and their f**ks stupid demands they put up with deserves a tip for showing up for work.

I figure 1 tip is plenty and I don't mind tipping if I'm not with the wife, we tend to always pay by card (phone) but if she has any cash on her she will always tip, it's just her nature

we're spending next weekend in Byron and she will fill up on $10 or $20 notes and tip every busker or homeless person in Byron

For your information I have never cashed out overseas. I just know you can. Cashing out is thinking in an analogue way. I'm more inclined to do something like this:
