Dont you work for yourself?

When you price compare mac and windows based on specs, you can't really justify the extra 30 or 40 % you have to pay for apple.
Apple users do so based on other reasons than product performance. They base their purchase decisions on the image that their marketing has created IMHO.
EDIT: My son has a mac book because music software he uses is only available on mac. He tells me that he's partitioned the HD (or runs an emulator, dunno really) and installed windows 10 on it because the mac OS shits him as it is too controlling. Whatever that means.
Well La Di Da! Look at you all employed and important!!
What about the rest of us bums that don't have a job and who aren't sure where our next meal might come from and who don't necessarily pay our bills until the 3rd or 4th overdue notice... we still like to have a choice which smartphone we want to use!!
Quite simply, you can use a piece of shit Windows laptop for about a year before you have to reformat and clean it up to run faster or buy a new one. You would still be using your MacBook 5 or 6 years later and not have an issue.
I pissed Windows off a long time ago and have never had an easier time using computers.
I record music etc. as well and I went through a fortune in laptops, and PC's and even had one built specifically for music production, which cost me a fortune, think Mac Pro dollars! The latency and comparability issues were insane. So much so that I couldn't get Pro Tools to work because internet explorer 8 update FFS.
I bought a MacBook Pro 13 inch and recorded 15 demo songs while working on a project in Newcastle without one issue. Literally plug in, install and you are good to go.
The flexibility might be good for some stuff but for me the cons far outweigh the pros when it comes to Windows.
I currently have a new MacBook Pro and iMac for music and use a Mac Mini for media with Apple TVs around the house.
Nu Metal?
I've had my windows notebook for 3 years.
Still running strong
It also depends what you use it for I guess.

1% work.
1% League Unlimited.
98% porn.
it depends on what you install and I have stopped windows updates.
I trueimage my system before performing a windows update
That will really f**k a Windows laptop/PC
You are right you can go to the confit manager and turn a whole bunch of stuff off at start up that defaults there but you shouldn't have to.
Your every day Jo would have no idea how to do that.
Windows update is the most unreliable update system in the world imo.
I guess it could be categorised as that. Most would probably call my stuff shit though.
Also EDM stuff too. That stuff is way more involved than just drums, guitar and bass. I probably enjoy writing and recording that much more because you get to play around so much with so many different sounds.......and you don't need singing on it either.
I can't sing for shit though so it (the heavy stuff) is all just music without singing. I have attempted really hard to get it right but not being a singer I can't get it right.
Apple also freely allow you to upgrade to their latest OSX version. Its actually easier from a support point of view if everyone moves forward.
I assume microsoft is still cashing in on os upgrades
actually they are giving away windows 10 for free i assume its the only way they can rid themselves of the die hard windows xp users who refuse to pay for upgrades

Its only free for windows 7/8 users for a year then merkins will have to pay again.
