And should the predominantly Labor electorates in Western Sydney, including senior shadow ministers Chris Bowen, Tony Burke and Jason Clare all vote against the bill in the lower house?

Indeed. Except for above ^^^ where labor MPs are not permitted to cross the floor.

I would presume given the surprising number of Labor electorates that voted no, that they're members will be now given a free vote on the matter.

38.4% of people is pretty damn high to be honest.

That’s a lot of people who actually give a shit about other people’s lives......

I knew it but FMD there is now actual evidence.

IIRC the Labor party determine policy democratically via the rank and file. Thereafter they do not allow MPs to cross the floor.

EDIT: http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/alp-mp-suspended-for-crossing-floor-on-porn-bill-20101020-16tam.html

Are they also not permitted to disagree? This is not about crossing the floor. She publicly backed the view of the perception of marriage being between a man and a woman. Now she's been condemning the No vote for the same thing. She's a worm

What’s surprising about it? Labor voters (like any voters) are likely to vote on self interest over ideology. Labor offers free money to plenty of people, including to conservative immigrants from the third world.

Have a look at the map.....western Sydney, far western and northern QLD voted no. A couple of the electorates around Bankstown / Belmore voted nearly 75-80% no (that's nearly 100% no)

Australia just voted in favour of equality. Yet this merkin wants us to roll back discrimination laws.

What I thought was surprising was the actual number of electorates who overwhelming voted No, not necessarily just the Labor ones. 6 NSW seats all above 60% No is quite high.

To be fair it does say in Leviticus that you shouldn't feed people who have different beliefs to you.

It would have been funnier if Andrews' example related to bacon.
