Which meds are you on for RA? (You can private message me if you don’t want to mention them here).

I can check the literature to see if there’s anything notable in terms of interactions.

No that's fine I'm up for 'letting it all hang out' so to speak..... 😂

Methotexate

Salazopyrin

Cortisone.

Because RH is of the same root family as Lupus and the like that's where the issues would come in. (when my Mum was pregnant with me she got Lupus we believe)

and of course my digestion issues.

It's all wrapped together.

The issue with longitudinal studies concerning the likes of Turmeric is that it has only emerged in the last decade and a half as a popular remedy for its anti-inflammatory activity. It’s been well-known traditionally in Ayurveda (Traditional Indian Herbal Medicine) for this effect over hundreds of years but actual clinical trials on concentrated medicinal doses have only been conducted in recent times (of which they are demonstrating promising results).

I hear what your saying. So WPanther do you work in the field of natural therapy ?

I am unsure which ones, I was told with the medications that I am on, for my heart attack, to be weary of taking them, as some can interfere with them. My cardiologist told me.
So, how they can be considered as more harmful if the cardiologist can’t name them?

Autoimmune connection from the looks of it.

I can see where the issue with Ashwagandha is in this instance, as it does have noted activity in modulating immune function, which could be an issue where Autoimmune-related health issues are concerned. However, there doesn’t appear to be any evidence to show that Ashwagandha stimulates immune parameters such as autoantibodies - which you don’t want too much of when it comes to autoimmunity.

I’ll do some reading.

He did tell me, I have just forgotten. I know what I was told.
Making your original comment about Naturopathic Medicine completely redundant, unless you can confirm the type of herb/nutrient, measured amount of active constituents found in the herbs, amount of herb/nutrient recommended and the dosage per day.

Oh so you're implying that I'm lying now?

An over reliance upon it instead of seeking professional advice.
Who here is advocating that?

Professional advice? The trusted professional could vary wildly depending on your culture. I'm a believer that for the most part Western medicine is pretty good, but to discount the practices of cultures thousands of years older than ours it pretty f**kin' dumb. If they were wrong their cultures wouldn't be thousands of years old.

I dont think anyone is implying you are lying. Just that you have a very narrow view of things and swallow everything you are told as gospel without opening your eyes to other points of view.
That is total an utter bulls**t. I was told this by my specialists for my medical conditions.

I agree with what your saying up to a point. I have complicated chronic medical conditions that need to be managed carefully.

You would be shocked at the amount of folks who basically stop you in the street spruking the latest wonder natural cure all. My conditions are degenerative and for a life time. There is no 'magic' cure.

I do take some natural products for my conditions. At times I've also used acupunture too)

This is done always after a frank and honest chat with my medical team. (this is because of how various drugs interact with other). For the most part it's a delicate balancing act. My life depends on everything being taken into consideration.

I know I'm not alone.

In some cases, naturopathic medications, can cause more harm than good.
^ Your original comment. I asked you how. Then you were asked to give examples, to which you stated that you can’t remember.

Therefore, your comment is deemed invalid unless you give examples which can then be verified either way. Pretty simple logic really….

I wouldn't be shocked at all. Being in a wheelchair attracts all kinds of self professed experts offering suggestions on what will cure me. Most of them mean well, so I try and remain polite. Most of the time internally I'm screaming "f**k off and leave me alone"

Muscular Dystrophy is also degenerative and it aint going away.

All types of treatments have their place though. As you say, you have had some benefits from acupuncture. I tried it, and it didn't help me, but I know for some ailments it can be amazing. Chinese medicine is great if the particular treatment is used on the corresponding condition. A lot of people assume that it's all Tiger gall bladder mixed with Lizard spoof as a cure all. It's much more than that. Some of it is a hoax, but a lot isn't.

My brush with Chinese medicine that worked is actually pretty funny. I had a girlfriend in China a few years ago, one of my trips over there we were leaving a restaurant and there was a pretty big gutter on the street. China isn't particularly wheelchair friendly, so you have to be adaptive. It is however bicycle friendly. On the gutter someone had improvised a very dodgy concrete ramp for bikes to get up and down. I decided it would be a good plan to hit at speed and do a jump down to street level (I'm a bit of a f**kwit like that, whats the worst that could happen, I might end up in a wheelchair) Anyway it didn't go to plan and I faceplanted on the street. Ended up with a tooth through my lip and half the skin grazed off my face. I've had a few similar injuries from other stupid shit I do so I figured on 5 to 6 weeks of looking like the elephant man. When we got back to the hotel China girl went and and got some shit to put on my face along with some kind of tablets. She put the shit on my face twice a day and fed me the tablets 3 times a day. 4 days and not a mark on me. I have no clue what she used, but whatever it was it shits on all the treatments for abrasions, bruising and swelling that we have here.

And that advice would be specific to you. It's not a blanket rule. Your specialist is also a specialist in his field and his tools are western medicine. Unless he is also a specialist in natural remedies and practices from other cultures then he is giving you info based on his knowledge. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't make other treatment options void.

I can understand being in a wheelchair some of the rubbish (comments) that must get thrown your way.

I understand where you're comming from re natural remedies too.

Just to make life extra fun I also have sleep apnea......(I do it all, if you know what I'm saying)

Dear friend of mine (retired nurse) when in Sydney earlier this year (daughter very ill). I wasn't coping with pain levels etc gave me an essence called breathe easy. I couple of drops inside the mask each night after you clean it. Magic stuff. I've just ordered and recieved my 2nd bottle.

I swear by it.

Magic.

Don't feel as though I'm drowning when I put the mask on. Makes breathing so much easier.

Good luck with it Socky.

My old lecturer punched an able bodied guy out for parking in a disabled zone once. The lesson was cancelled while he told the story. It was the guys attitude he got the shits with more than anything.

It would get very old very quickly trying to work out whether you can get somewhere physically.

Half of the west doesn’t even have a proper footpath .

I can’t imagine your challenges.
