That young fullback they got looked so good playing for south’s at the end of last year. Now he looks terrible imo. No doubt he has a lot of talent but playing in a side that bad it’s hard to look good.
Averillo was also highly rated and Hetherington is better than what's being shown. Something is happening to make good talent look bad.

There is a sack Barrett thread already on the the kennel fan forum after only 3 games. I wonder how long before the media stories of Barrett under pressure to keep his job start appearing

If any Bulldogs fans out there need a sign to take to the next home ground I would be happy to help.
I have a big lump of plywood and some white paint. My pensmanship is a little messy but I could still paint Sack Barrett on it.

Always blew my mind that the one U20 to not win the comp was the first to get a first grade gig.

Failed, then got a second.

Can't argue with it at this point. Didn't he fail with our stacked junior teams?
As I pointed out in the game day thread, the assertion that Barrett was responsible for the Panthers attack last year (mostly put forward on NRL360 by the Hoopers and Rothfields of this world) has been forcibly debunked by this game. I reckoned they signed him hoping he'd bring a few of our blokes over with him.

This was their big game. They'd lost to top 8 sides, but you can still make the finals after losing to the top 8. You just have to beat the bottom 8. The Broncos went the full distance while they totally crumbled.

He isn't a ball playing FB so again a stupid signing. Especially as JAC will go into there next year

A length of the field try by the Warriors right on the hooter at Penrith in 2014 was enough to give the Warriors a draw and 8th place over us on for and against. They went on to win the comp. Barrett was coach that year.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he was signed.

I actually think they signed Barrett based on this myth he was solely responsible for Penrith going so well.
Yes he played a part. .But a part of clearys overall team combined with a lot of talented kids who all rolled into one unit.He does not have the talent at the dogs to carry his game plans. But he is struggling to improve a squad that is better than what they had last year

I think the Dogs problem is in their forwards, not their backs. However other than signing Hetherington, the Dogs haven’t done anything about it.

Their pack is suited to the old style of the game, not the new faster game where forwards need to be quicker, have some footwork and ball playing skills and be able to play long minutes.

Their forwards simply don’t win the contest in the middle and rarely earn their side a fast play the ball or anything for the backs to work with.

Barrett seems to have focused on signing backs rather than fixing the forwards which is where he has gone wrong.
