about yesterdays game at all.
Obviously we did not play to our full potential, but I think it is fair to say that the majority of our boys put in 100%

Looking back at the game, I think their was 2 big turning points that cost us dearly.
1. Drop ball 2nd tackle by Skandalis not picked up by the ref. 2 sets of 6 later 8 nil.
2. 18-0 down Thorman dropping the ball over the line.

So many things were against us.
1. So many changes to our line up including debutants, and new half combination
2. We did not see the pill for the first 7 minutes of the game.
3. Playing catch-up football.
4. The opposition - THE REAL DEAL!!! The tigers are playing some top shelf footy and were always going to be tough at Leichhardt.
5. Low self esteem. We need to find some confidence from somewhere. The Tigers had that AROGANCE CONFIDENCE which was very similiar to the confidence shown by the Panthers last year.

I guess what I am trying to say is don't give up peoples we have come through harder times before with a weaker team than what we have now, and we will come through this phase as well.

1. Those changes were needed, hopefully Smith won't drop them and they'll improve next week
2. We didn't see the football because we conceded a try in the first minute and gave away a further 2 points via a penalty after that
3. Well it was Parramatta's fault for falling behind in the first place
4. Tigers are playing well, spurred on by a home crowd yesterday
5. I agree we gotta find confidence, confidence is not going to magically appear, the guys have to believe in themselves. It seems it takes a few games to build confidence but only 1 to lose it.

I think they need to go on a treasure hunt in Parramatta Park - leave no stone unturned in the quest to find the missing confidence :D

POINT 2: If the early Skandalis drop ball was spotted it would have been us on the attack and the Tigers on the defencive. Myself and everyone else (majority tigers supporters) sitting behind the goal posts on the Northern end of the filed were laughing how that wasn't picked up!!!!
MAJOR TURNING POINT!!

I'm sick of fans using apparent refereeing mistakes to justify this team folding like a house of cards. Grow up, every other team has bad calls go against them and they just get on with it and try again.

And I'm sick of fans using Brian Smith as the only justifiable reason for our team playing below their best.

YOU GROW UP!!
All I did was state some points from a game where it was my opinion we were not as bad as seemed!!

Freak, if you take that ONE game alone, you are correct.

But this is the fifth such performance in a row.
That changes the context completely.

Very hard to justify all the losses in the month of May especially the Saints throw in the towel shocker, but I saw an improvement and that tells me we could be on the mend!! Lets hope so anyway!!

I saw improvement as well.

It still doesn't disguise the fact that Brian cannot offer us any more.

I have no problem with the players we have at the club. I just think we need someone else to get the best out of them.

Suity.

You make some valid points, Freak.

However, from my viewpoint, most of the things we lack can be solved in the coaches office. Confidence = motivation. Ray Price stated once that Jack Gibson was not a good coach, he was a good motivator. Under Gibson, every player that he selected played above his weight. John Lang is the same, and usually Wayne Bennett. Under Smithy, very few of our players can say that.

I wish people like yourself would stop taking the coaching dismissal calls personally.

You must've been right near me and my mates, that was a dead set shocker, touch judges missed soo many things in that game, mostly which would've favoured Parramatta.

Had the touchies been doing their jobs, we might have competed better.

Like it or not, this is a fact:

Had that dropped ball been spotted; had we scored from the ensuing set of 6; we would have done much better.

A team down on form and confidence - a perfect start like that can change things in a zippy.

LOL, I know where your coming from but truly that is just too much conjecture, it's like saying had my auntie been born with balls she'd be my uncle. Your just gotta be good enough to play the cards your dealt.

See, that's just it:

at the moment, we are severely lacking confidence.

That one little play - the dropped ball; had it been spotted, and had we scored, I'm positive that that perfect start would have pumped the boys up and jump-started the reversal of form.

But unfortunately, the touchies missing that play really killed us. I noticed Wags and a few others screaming at the touchies, and when they ignored them, their heads went down.

I have always believed that overcoming adversity requires strength of character and determination not necassarily confidence. I think it really comes down to a matter of self belief and if our team/players don't have it, well, whose responsibility is that?

Jack Gibson always had a personality profile conducted on any players he was interested in using. I recall him once saying something like "I don't care how much ability they have but if they don't believe in themselves why should I"

To that extent I honestly believe the results over the last few years are a direct result of all the so called "journeymen" Smith has brought in, players that have never had self belief or a winning culture to begin with and it has now infected the whole place.

I do understand where your coming from but I think the problems we are having are not a result of what's happening on the field but off it. If it was only a short term slump I would agree with you but it's not, it's been evident for the last 2 and 1/2 seasons. Even when we have won we have not played well.
