Bunch of 50 yr olds acting like teenagers. At least I got to see some good punch ups as a Teen.
do school kids not have punch ups these days? .... I recall when I was in year 7,8,9 there were fairly frequent fights at/after school - even heard stories of bunches of merkins going to parks to punch on (dunno if true) .... but our school got cleaned up in my latter years

Kent has a bit of a point .... every merkin is more than willing to hang shit on people like Hooper and co on social media (including this forum) - but many get all huffy puffy over this

I don't like what they did on the radio - ie publicly .... you would think people who were friends/colleagues would be able to spot the time to back off ribbing someone - they didn't seem to get it ..... but who am I to know where that line is? I don't know them.

What I don't get is the double down. JFC if a mate is hurting, support him.

Banter gets out of hand often, but it sounds to me Maroon set boundaries and they were (and still are) ignored.

If you listen to the recording again, Maroon says to Hooper "Mate I pick you up for work !" many times.

That translates IMHO to "you're supposed to be a friend, why are you still kicking me when I am pleading you to stop ?"

There are some people who would be firmly in the Kent: harden the f**k up corner, but thankfully mental health awareness is wide spread and only the dinosaurs are left.

I am sure they do now too, depends on what kind of school you go to. Turns out Blacktown Boys had one of the most significant change in HSC high achievers in recent years, unbelievable to me.

Problem with Rugby League media personnel is that they try to entertain the masses and entertain badly. No analysis on anything, just middle aged men being Larrikins.

The warning signs should have been there when Maroon stated that it had taken a great toll on his life.
Yet the merkins continued on.
And had reported it to Management frequently without support. The Kent story has him admitting he crossed the line. No means no. Just because 2 morons like Kent and Hooper think its funny dosent mean it is. Im surprised Kents article was published. A total admission of guilt. I hope he is smashed with damages. Sue, sue, sue!

Which I have mentioned several times.
Management are just as complicit in this whole affair.
Absolutely. Ive witness many people who were depressives who portrayed a very different charachter to who they really are. Its a defence mechanism. But it was funny! Ffs. If FOX and MMM were fairdinkum they'd sack the pair of them. Kent in particular needs sanctioning. He thinks hes bulletproof. Grub! Bully!

Or when Maroon clearly said "Guys, stop it now".
That isn't a warning sign, that was a clear f**ken request.

Which when it didn't stop (and in fact escalated) was when Maroon lost his shit. I don't blame him.

The more I think about it, the more I think that Kent and Hooper were actually out to bring Maroon down.
To be fair, I don't think Tallis had a lot to do with it and was completely unaware of the implications of the situation - mainly through ignorance. He is normally in the Brisbane studio so doesn't have personal contact with the two other clowns

I've listened to the show for quite a few years now. I've always found it very amusing. Lots of banter and some seriously good RL discussion. God forbid, I'd even grown over time to somewhat grow to like Kent and Hooper a bit more on radio, as opposed to watching them on NRL 360. They just sounded better on the radio.

Maroon was the rock. He was clever, funny and knew his Rugby League. He also has a great knowledge of Rugby League history, and history in general. He's about my age so can remember shite from back in the 70's. He has an amazing memory of all things footy, as well as tv, movies, fashion etc... It all made for some very funny discussions.

Yet, the two clowns continued to wear him down. They clearly knew what they were doing. What's sad is they ignored his plea for a truce. Even when it came to the crunch, (and they would have been able to detect his body language when Maroon was losing it) they still continued on their crusade. I just do not get why they would do this after being asked personally by Maroon (IN PRIVATE) to stop it.
Paul Kent's column yesterday explained exactly why, and confirmed that it was a vandetta against Maroon. For whatever reason, I do not know.

I feel for Maroon, but I'm glad that he is still calling matches for MMM
I just wish that the MMM management had the balls to f**k off Hooper and Kent, and get back Maroon to host the show and bring in better side show guests. James Graham is excellent. Gordy Tallis is still ok imo.
They still have Girdler and others who are excellent.
Their ratings could actually improve without the two merkins who caused this issue.

Wouldn't surprise me if SEN approach Maroon tbh. They are trying to boost the leage coverage. Think there weekend stuff need some bigger names.

Up to maroon if he wants a fresh start

Unless there is some secrets in the closet, I doubt Maroon will struggle to pick up work elsewhere.
I'm actually surprised that Fox haven't got him on the payroll already.
I suppose they do have a pretty full roster.

Anyway, it's great that we can still hear his calls on Triple M on weekends.

When I was at school you'd get maybe 4 or 5 a year. I don't feel they where that common.
