I think you'll find we had more injuries to key players last year.Dumb. What position did we finish last year?

I expect us to recruit big for 2027. Merkins expecting big signings for 2026 are delusional.that's the impression I get when he talks about developing from within, its just that us fans are impatient
with our salary cap space for the next couple of years when we shed the dead wood, we should also be able to recruit the odd X factor
Even 2023 wasn't objectively poor. We won half our games, despite a huge number of unavailable games by key players. It just felt like a poor season because merkins assume a grand final must come at the start of a premiership window rather than at the end of it. We were in the grand final last year ffs! Missing the finals is unacceptable!!! But in reality, we missed the finals after three of our past four grand finals ('87, '10 and '23), and in '02 we were one of three teams that made the finals with a losing record.I don't believe we had two poor seasons in a row during his tenure until the last two years, when he was shown the door half way through a second poor season.
Given the youth in our NRL side and the quality of youngsters in reserve grade, we likely have more potential in our squad than most.Virtually everyone has got great young kids who will develop. Why are ours any special?
If they were a real thing, he wouldn't be refusing to pick Dylan Brown while he's available. What if he wins 2 wooden spoons?
The contract is four years. He will be held accountable at the end of it, or else why sign that long? It's not a daily renewable contract. Not chip and change, just held accountable, how long do u give Ryles to perform?
If they were a real thing, he might refuse to pick Dylan in the 17 because he wants them for his kitchen...If they were a real thing, he wouldn't be refusing to pick Dylan Brown while he's available.
You're pretty new at NRL contracts, aren't you....The contract is four years. He will be held accountable at the end of it, or else why sign that long? It's not a daily renewable contract.
And this is why he was finally replaced. Not because management suddenly decided he couldn't coach, but because the senior players needed to be f**ked off and Arthur would've fought to keep them.BA had his time and we needed someone to gut the joint.
Objection your honour, speculation...And this is why he was finally replaced. Not because management suddenly decided he couldn't coach, but because the senior players needed to be f**ked off and Arthur would've fought to keep them.
We've signed about as many players as we've gotten rid of. How much free cap space do you think we have ffs? We went after Galvin, missed out and then signed TDS. I reckon the amount we're paying him wouldn't be much less than our offer to Galvin. Yes Brown is gone next year, so we have his money to spend, but that might be all. Just because we want Lane and Matterson gone doesn't mean we have their cap space to play with. We are probably looking at 2027 to replace those merkins.Okay, very concerning though as he appears to be putting his eggs in one basket, relying on juniors coming through and moneyball signings, if that is his plan, we will never compete with the top sides, leaving us where? I hope I’m eating lots of humble pie in the near future
Sorry, I meant aRtHuR's WaS sAcKeD bEcAuSe He'S sHiT!!!Objection your honour, speculation...
I think it would not be speculation to say BA was sacked because management decided that he was not best placed to take the club forward during the remaining period of his head coach contract. That being a management position that had evolved somewhat since their decision to recently extend that very contract.Sorry, I meant aRtHuR's WaS sAcKeD bEcAuSe He'S sHiT!!!
That's what I said, and expanded on what 'not best placed' meant. Relationships with existing players is less speculative than the idea that some rookie would be able to get them to perform better. Drown, Penisini and four back rowers are all performing worse than previous years.I think it would not be speculation to say BA was sacked because management decided that he was not best placed to take the club forward during the remaining period of his head coach contract. Lol, your expansion is pure speculation. That's what I said, and expanded on what 'not best placed' meant.
Still speculation. This might cheer you up and bring you out of what the buddhists call "troll mindset":Relationships with existing players is less speculative than the idea that some rookie would be able to get them to perform better. It is supported by the facts, unlike all the other speculation around the sacking. Not all speculation is equal, and your guess is not as good as mine.Lol, your expansion is pure speculation.
Still speculation.
They didn’t even get the lyrics right FFS!Lol, your expansion is pure speculation.

Agreed. It’s what we needed and what a lot of people were demanding after our decline since the 2022 GF.And this is why he was finally replaced. Not because management suddenly decided he couldn't coach, but because the senior players needed to be f**ked off and Arthur would've fought to keep them.
Moses not playing much both seasons is a big factor. I didn't want to see people like RCG, Gutho etc. leave but they had their chance while they were at their peak. I'm not convinced they'd have us doing any better this year.I think you'll find we had more injuries to key players last year.
We might need to being back BA in 2028 if we have 3 dud years under Rylsey..
BA will hardly know most players, lives 7min away, experienced and is great at rebuilding a club..
Perfect imo...
