Congrats to the Hornbag. Nice little cherry on top of a marvellous career spanning over 200 games including a premiership, Origin selection, Test selection and of course captaining the greatest club in rugby league. Truly one of our game's legends.

He truly does deserve it! Now he just needs the Presto Medal to top that off

Hornby is a ridiculous selection, in a team of 20 you don't need a utility, especially one who at best is mediocre in a couple of positions

I am aware that it was a coach's choice. But what I am saying is, isn't his 2 picks supposed to come from the 64 shortlisted players? I am pretty certain he was quoted saying that is where his 2 picks will come from and the shortlisted Dragons players were Nightingale, Cooper, Creagh and Weyman.

I'm not knocking Hornby as a player, after all he is an origin rep, test rep and premiership winning captain, I'm just confused of the coach's selection rules.

The silliest part of the Hornby selection is that he really isn't needed between the fan picked bench and Luke Lewis as one of the coaches selections. They have every position well and truly covered except for hooker.

So really it would have made more sense for Kurt Gidley to be picked (decent utility hooker) or a specialist hooker. I know Cameron Smith is an 80 minute player, but this is essentially a glorified trial match and a player likely to have a high workload shouldn't be out there for 80 minutes (higher risk of injury in a nothing game). Then there's also the chance he could get injured early and we're stuck with a dodgy solution to hooker.

Just seems like a silly position to be in when you have 7 bench positions available. Wayne has just picked a player he likes, not one that offers anything extra to the team.

hornby makes sense as he can play 1/6/7/9 fairly well

marshall/cronk/smith will want a rest and dugan will get a graze on his leg in the 7th minute and be out for 4 weeks

Hayne wasnt competing with a current australian rep... he is competing against an over the hill 2nd row.
