I reckon Maloney's 5/5 in the GF, including two out wide qualify as pressure goal kicking.

I'd like to see the success rates since the starts of 2013.

The kick from over half way has been lost from the game, due to the change in the game's balance towards scoring more tries. So the hardest kick now is from the sideline 20 metres out. People like Kevin Longbottom and Bob Landers used to put them over from the sideline and over halfway. It's a big loss from the game in my opinion.

It's why Croker missed "that" kick. Modern players never really need to go for the massive long range shot for goal so the rare times they do need to shoot a 40m + it's not as comfortable.

Not really, a kick from the sideline and 25m out is over 40m long

Richards, distance, accuracy he can kick goals no one else can get near, 42 metres out through the posts and into the crowd, should be in the origin side for kicking alone given the relative closeness of most games recently. Imagine the pressure he could put on QLD if everytime they gave a penalty 30-40 metres out he slotted it and those kickoffs(although hopefully nsw will only have to do it once each game) are sick!

Last year, the top goal scorers (based purely on % kicked with a minimum of 50 attempts) were:
1. Adam Reynolds (100/111 = 90%)
2. James Maloney (108/124 = 87%)
3. Luke Walsh (74/86 = 86%)

This year, top scorers (minimum 20 attempts) are:
1. Pat Richards (36/41 = 88%)
2. Jarrod Croker (27/31 = 87%)
3. Trent Hodkinson (35/42 = 83%)

Of course, these rankings don't take into account the relative difficulty of kicks (distance, angle, weather, pressure).

Interesting that none of the top 3 from 2013 are in the top 3 from 2014.

Their ability to kick a difficult goal in a clutch situation. Croker is good but his miss against the Tigers in 2010 still haunts Raiders fans (and Croker too I'd imagine).

Croker also has a legitimate shot and being the all time leading point scorer if he continues his career with few injuries. He'll hit 1,000 points next year and if he continues at 200 per season for the next 5-6 years, which is entirely possible, he will break the record.

Hmmmm surely Ritchards ESL points are still legit ?? Currently stands at 2730 points in NRL and ESL ..miles ahead of Croker.

Didn't bunniesman decide this debate for us a few weeks ago? The answer is Reynolds. Not only the best kicker in the NRL currently, but of all time too.
