What an embarrassing world we live in, when the Panthers CEO rings the Warriors and apologises for saying “up the pahs”
Yeah, that's feeble. It was a shithouse post from a cringe standpoint, and needed to be taken down. And I didn't see the comments section, I think it fired people up - I don't know if any offence was taken. It annoyed me, more so because I thought it was lame and unnecessary for a club of that standing.

General ticket sales got obliterated in no time.
I hope everyone going has a blast.

I'm ropeable with Sydney's Warrior situation on Saturday. So, our NSW Cup side have an eliminator at Leichhardt against the Bears at 2pm. Then, as we know, first grade kicks-off at 4pm Sydney time.

It'll be 30 degrees, there'll be mandatory stoppages to play, extra-time is possible, Leichhardt won't wrap up till close to four pm. Then how do we get to the Warriors fan-meet at a hotel near Parramatta on time? Worse for me as I take public transport.

It's a disaster.

Lol, Cheer up mate. Look at it for what it is: a four hour window of awesome finals football involving the warriors.

True, Warriors glass half full for sure. However, there was a NSW Cup slot at midday which would've been perfect. As it is I can only do one which, naturally, will be first grade at the official Warriors event in Parra.

Hitro above has me thinking though, I can do both, ditch the official party and go to a pub near Leichhardt.

Finals Week Two, as we know:

Friday: Storm v Roosters.
Saturday: Warriors v Knights.

I can see Melbourne coming out firing. Surely they won't play that bad two weeks in a row? The Roosters? They blew a lot of emotional and physical energy last week. They may be a puff or two short.

Newcastle is on a big high, the Warriors on a bit of a low. But if Johnson plays, and plays like he has this year, then that, and a bustling and boisterous Mt Smart crowd, should bring us home something like 30-12.

I know everyone's keen for Johnson to go out a winner. Imagine it? If he won one it doesn't really matter if the majority of his NRL career was wasted. Look at Geyer, no one takes this away from him, not even the rest of the 1990s!:

Looking at Geyer's Wikipedia it states that he even had a spell with the Umina Beach Bunnies in 1994! Just before he signed with the Western Reds.

First premiership for any club is epic, not sure Geyer is the right comparison though, he was monstrous in the early part of his career, and never recovered from Alexander’s death. Brandy perhaps a good comparison, Uber talented half that never quite achieved what the greatest did? But 90-91 was unforgettable for that group, I was a Penrith fan so loved that, but also seeing the Sharks first, and the Bunnies return…. If we win one, it’ll be pretty f**king emotional

Is it really wasted when most of it was spent in crap teams? There's probably inferior players with multiple wins due to being in teams not the Warriors.

Always been a supporter of this game being at Mt Smart, but gee it does sound crazy hearing on the news on the way home that they are opening up Eden Park so the people that couldn’t get a ticket can watch it on the big screen there lol

NRL has put the 2008 Warriors Roosters semi on YouTube. Am watching it now and it's bringing back plenty of memories. I don't think I've ever been at a game with a more electric atmosphere. I know I barely had a voice for the whole week after...

I saw it there too and will actually download it for posterity. I've downloaded another recent NRL upload, the 1991 Grand Final, and will settle into two lovely hours reliving that and, this time, without Glen Larmer in my ear.

I watched the '08 Warriors/Roosters nailbiter at the local and remember only starting to feel OK when Henderson just, and only just, popped the pill on the line from dummy-half and we went further ahead.

At 24-13, in the 71st minute, with the Roosters on attack, you could sense them stealing it. Plenty of time for a Bondi boilover, we needed some icing and, man, what an icing we got!

We're three hours away from five teams being reduced to four in regard to them getting in the way of our maiden premiership!

Who can best beat Penrith and make it even easier for us? I think that would be Melbourne.

91 was my first grand final, the Meninga short drop kick which Geyer charged onto to put Simmons over is ingrained in my memory

As I think back to other finals moments burned into my memory from that era, Jason Taylor kicking the drop goal in 1994 to knock Brisbane out is another one, Bears 15-14 from memory. May even be the same year, Canterbury and Canberra went to I think extra time in the qualifying final, and Halligan knocked over the 1 point to win it.
