NRL Finals

May as well get this thread started and here we are, the Warrior-less finals, for the third straight year.

Is that a record (since we first qualified in 2001)?

I'm going for Penrith, they're my home team. This weekend's game versus the Roosters should be a good one.

I can't believe how badly the Bulldogs dropped off, after a solid start to the year. They were heavy favourites way back then.

That TL drop goal (that was never going over), in Cappy's first game in charge, would have gotten us into the eight this year!

04,05,06 was another run of no finals for us

But under Anderson and Cleary we were regular competitors even though we didn't really threaten the premiership. I miss those days.

In terms of these finals obviously Penrith and the Cows get my support.
Process of elimination, can't stand the other teams

Haha, that's exactly how I've been looking at it.

I did throw a grand on the Cowboys though (earlyish in the season they drifted out hugely), so would prefer them.

Without starting a Salary cap discussion the teams I support are based on who looks least creative with their roster and the cap.

So that rules out Roosters Manly Bulldogs Broncos Rabbitohs

Melbourne are a bore so no love there and their legacy was founded on Cap artistry.

Cows deserve it. How about those Refs treatment of the Cows eh ? get the old Warrior blood boiling ?

Panthers....hmm as much as I like what Ivan's done....dare I wish for a water fall of comparisons between Cleary and McFadden for the next four years ? not so much.

But good luck ivan all the same.

I just can't get behind the idea of the Cowboys winning a premiership before we do.

I'll always go for Penrith as my second team since they were my first team before 1995. I wouldn't mind seeing the Roosters go back-to-back as well.

Everyone else - meh.

I had a think about this after the game on Sunday, and landed on getting behind the Cowboys. Its no fun going for the favourites, so that knocks the Roosters, Rabbits and Manly out, never been big on the Panthers either...the Storm have had their time in the sun enough, and I feel like the Broncos stole our spot, so want them knocked out immediately! Bulldogs, meh, never been a big fan. There are a few teams outside the 8 I may have gone for - Eels, Knights, Raiders, but they weren't good enough.

Cows works well - they have a decent shot at making it, but aren't considered a top tier threat for the trophy. Its like kind of backing an underdog, but still having a shot at it paying off.

Also, don't forget the Juniors and Reserves in the finals, thats still something to cheer for...

Bunnies looked red hot, but it was a disgraceful 60 minutes from Manly
Disinterested and tired. Clearly something else is bothering them

I couldn't believe the bad reads at center from Lyon near the line.
Lote was amazing for someone hitting 35!
Manly just couldn't make the meters in the first 60min, then bunnies dropped off at 40-0!

Manly probably had less supporters, they are pathetic travellers in metro Sydney.

Bit rough not to play at Brookie when they finished 2nd.
They probably scared to get mugged by South's fans!
McGuire laying it down after winning, a massive spray!
Man when is his coaching contract up? :sarcasm:
A ripping and a tearin!:)

Toovey would've been extra-psycho in the box. I can see his eyes bulging out of his purple head right now.

Souths made a big statement there...

Traditionally I hate Manly, but feel a bit for them now, so much crap swirling around them, yet the continue to perform - not sure whether their slump is to do with that, or just missing a few key but unsung players

Always glad to see Manly lose, so was hoping they wouldn't get the week off. A nice one-two punch would be great, hope the Storm smash them next week as well.

Good work juniors!

Panthers getting the rub of the green on refs calls vs Roosters, but SBW getting away with a strip and some elbow work on Soward after kick.

That 1 point win was awesome.
Broncos pretty much showing us how the Warriors would've faired tonight if our F/A was 14 points better
