Well the by the sound of it the lifestyle he leads he can thank them for the mardi gras as it lead to gay public acceptance and celebration of their rights over 30 years ago. So to say he is outright against it is a bit over the top.

No one said he is against it, I'm just saying not everyone is into dressing up and partying and all that so it might not be his thing. That wouldn't mean he had a problem with the Mardi Gras.

Afl fans would boo gay footballers as 'uppity poofs'.

Good on the NRL I say. I know plenty of Queer as folk who love rl.

I also remember a fella writing an article one day with the headline "why I'm not proud to be gay" and it was to do with the only time he ever went to Mardi Gras and only saw it as an opportunity for blokes to see how many other blokes they could root

If I was gay that would sound like a good time...

Isn't it why most young men hit up clubs every weekend? To find a chick drunk enough?

But seriously, good initiative, glad the NRL is doing it.

Really? This is where the money is going now?

I know they probably want to win a few swans fans over but what is this achieving other than a cynical VFL-style PR exercise to grab a couple of headlines and allow the NRL to tick another box on their diversity check list.

It's a great idea but you'd hope they could get some current players up there if they do it again next year.

Chloe, isn't your husband going in it wearing a rainbow g-banger?

Sydney is known for being more cultured than the rest of the world and this is a great move

I think the North Sydney Bears are missing s huge Mardi Gras opportunity. I'm picturing a float full of large hairy men in Bears jerseys and obscenely tight shorts, gyrating to this:

But seriously, great move by the NRL.

Is it gay if I go along to see some of my favourite footy players, but end up having unprotected sex with a bunch of dudes?
