Nick87, if you're looking for your watch, I think it's wedged somewhere in my ribcage. Just danced with Paul Langmack, he has busy hands! Woooooo!

Well the by the sound of it the lifestyle he leads he can thank them for the mardi gras as it lead to gay public acceptance and celebration of their rights over 30 years ago. So to say he is outright against it is a bit over the top.

I'm sure he does but its kind of over the top sexualized and yeah that's mostly gay culture but some of us gays would prefer a bit more clothes on.
The actual March back in the day has lost its message at times, what with the after partries and sex and drugs.

I went a few years back and there was this really hairy dude in a g banger and the whole crowd collectively groaned when his butt came into view:lol:

Pretty smart of the NRL, its a marketing opportunity after all.

Yeah. That's pretty much it. Both these guys I was talking about were aware of what Mardi Gras has done for gay rights but thought that some of the behaviour with the drug taking and the promiscuity goes a way to undoing that because it doesn't do much to change the perception of some people.

The amount of anger this has generated on a couple of official pages posts on FB from so called fans is very sad

I worked with a gay guy who is outright against Mardi Gras on the basis that while he is a gay man he just didn't see how the event is relevant to the lifestyle he leads.

The original protest march that the Mardi Gras honours each year and the violent police reaction to it are a large part of why NSW decriminalised homosexuality and started to recognise gay rights. So the fact that your coworker can even be gay without it being illegal is how the event is relevant to his lifestyle.

just imagine ram raid with jarryd hayne, greg inglis, adam reynolds & michael morgan on a float...

It would be cool and inclusive if they had some kind of footy show segment where you could win a date with a player. Or even, since it's a live show, they could pick a member out of the audience to finish off Beau Ryan at a glory hole.
