Yes, we sorta get the idea, and a review of the policy is long overdue

but ... the article fails ... to tell us ... what the new policy actually is based around ! no quotes from the policy

ordinary journalism providing more questions than answers

Oink !

ps In 6 hours, only 4 responses to this thread, another fine advertisement of why having a separate forum for this and that is lame ... merge all major league topics to the one board

To be fair, this is the same paper that uses Twitter for most of its 'sources'

He only wants players who want to play for the roaches...yet continues to kick up such a stink about this.

Is Ricky Stuart headlining the Melbourne Comedy Festival this year with this act? Perhaps he'll bring out his announcement that Ennis is hooker again for the best laughs.

More oppression from the Evil Empire below the line.

Dickheads, this is just going to fire us up even more as we march towards 2314 straight series wins.

As a Queenslander supporter all I can say is Good!
This should always have been a black and white situation.

I'm not entirely sure what the situation is but Schubert's quotes are promising and exactly what I wanted - ie. no lobbying for players.

Doesn't apply for this situation.

As it stands, NSW have the rest of the country to choose from. Which isn't too bad when you consider they have over twice the amount of eligible players than Qld do already.

How so Pete? McManus was a 50/50 call considering he came into the Knights system in his mid teens but aside from that I can't think of any players who were jnrs of other states who have played for the Blues

I'm not talking about past or present players - just future players.

Any local Victorian or WA player is eligible for NSW because they play SG Ball.

Wouldn't surprise me in a couple of years to see a few of them appear in the Blues line up in the future, couple of really good prospects coming through the Victorian system.

I know the SG ball comp is a NSWRL comp but does that actually make them eligible for NSW? Wouldnt that also mean players from the Tweed Seagulls are eligible for Qld because they play in a QRL comp?

Doesnt seem right to me. I thought eligibility was based on geography not who governs the comp they play in

Apparently so because since they're Australian and that's where they played their first senior game, it makes them eligible. Hence, the first Victorian Aus. Schoolboy Kennar represented NSW in U/16s and the likes of Fonua & Tonumaipea are NSW eligible.

And no, because Tweed are a NSW (Origin) club where as Victoria and WA are not. The Tweed situation can get a little murky at times too. For all intents and purposes it's a NSW club, hence Michael Gordon is a NSW rep. But then you get players like Anthony Watts who despite playing for Currumbin as a junior was on the QRL's Origin eligible list.

Currumbin is in Qld though mate, so that makes perfect sense

I guess the NSWRL sees it that they are putting in the time and money with these kids so they should reap the benefits. Would make it interesting if the Reds had a side in the QldCup like they have proposed

Out of interest, had this rule existed since day 1, how many player selections would have been prevented?

Inglis and?
