They are your words, funding for clubhouses, they are doing that, pushing the women's game, they are doing that. Which part have I misinterpreted?

Why would the NRL want a Fijian side to play in our comp?

They want the players to come here and play for our clubs - the ones that bring on the big TV bucks. The clubs need players and this is an effort to get the players to play RL and not Super Rugby.

Neither league or union have any genuine concern for either the state of the sport in the pacific island countries or for the general well being of the places. But both need the talent, so they will do just enough to ensure a steady stream of cannon fodder. But not a bit more.

As for the health of the national teams - that isn't even on the radar for league or union either. These sides are tolerated for some sort of variety in the warm up matches prior to the ratings-winning finals in both codes.

The strategy is "get the players"

The way to get them? That is why scouts are sent, "academies" are establish and concern for welfare is documented.
