The real gold for the NRL was in the television figures on Fox Sports.
On day one, the audience peaked at 193,000 — more than the first day of the first Test between Australian and Pakistan on Fox Sports. For the final, the audience peaked at 201,000.
The women's final attracted 170,000 viewers — 108,000 more than those who watched the West Coast-Fremantle game, also on Fox Sports.
"The Nines format is a very important part of our strategy," Greenberg said. "Nines is enjoyed by the players, the fans and forms a significant part of our participation. Perth is a perfect city for Nines in a pre-season format."
Total prize money of $1 million is on the line, with a bonus $1 million available for any men’s team that can win both the Nines and NRL Telstra Premiership this season.
Don’t kid yourself, we could have sold out both days and wouldn’t have made a blind bit of difference to the expansion decision, or indecision. Small balls nrl.

Well we can agree that $75 for one day, especially in an area where they're supposedly trying to expose new supporters, is a bit rich. Kids 12yo & under should have been free with an accompanying adult & kids under 18yo at least half price.it was $75 for the day, it wasnt bad value as it turned out but would t know that beforehand, the point was it would deter the less determined rl fan or sports casual. Not as much as 4pm valentines night but still. Pints range from $8-12 depending on the establishment you are at.
I gave up hope in 2013, I have no doubts it will be a very long time, if ever NRL expands behinds it’s heartlands, it’s just not that well run a sport sadly.
You've got to fish where the fish are... or is...I'm loving all the fishing for the one fish going on in this thread.
T
seems like we are on par despite the Friday and price handicap
I was scared of Perth before this weekend.
Now I’m not worried at all.
The hand has been shown.
small things amuse small minds.
yep that arguement is so dum, dont play trial cos he might get hurt, but no chance in first roundQuite funny reading comments elsewhere that the 9s should be scrapped because of injuries to a few players.
95% of players wouldn't have played 60 minutes total at the 9s and only a small handful would have played 80 minutes or more. Albeit with less contact than a regular game.
These players would have been just as likely to get injured during a trial or if not that round 1.
